What is a creative way to announce family members that my boyfriend and I are engaged? |
We don't want them to freak out, since my boyfriend and I are only 22... How about YAHOO ANSWERS???? Do you have a younger family member like a sibling or cousin that you can spill your guts to before having to tell the parents? They may advise a good, low-maintenance situation to make it as positive and non-shocking as possible. And they can give you a heads up with it may be a good time. I think it would be a really cute idea to go to a professional portrait studio and have some pictures taken together. Maybe wear matching colors and go classic on the photography style (black background). Pick a nice package that will give you lots of announcements to send out to your friends and family saying something like "Announcing the engagement of (your names)". It's classic and how can anyone be upset if they all find out at the same time when you send them through the mail? My husband and I got married when we were just 18 and even though my parents didn't approve, there's really nothing they can do. We now have a 1 year old daughter and expecting a son this May. We've sent out nice announcements for both of our kids too - since we're so young we thought it'd be a nice way to tell our family without them getting upset. It worked. Good luck! You could sit them down and say really seriously, "there's something we need to talk to you guys about...we're going to be adding another member to the family" (and rub your tummy so they'll think otherwise, you know a baby), then surprise them with the GOOD news! I think it would be pretty funny to see their reaction to a pregnancy, and then they'll be more pleased with the real news. I'm not sure if this actually answers your question or not but I think that it is funny. When we got engaged, my husband called to tell his brother (he only has brothers, no sisters). He told him, "You are finally going to have a sister." His brother was so confused, he said, "Mom's pregnant??" :) I thought that it was funny. just where the ring, go over there (normally), and just sit with your hand on your chin, propped up against your head, etc. to where they can see it. i did this to people in my research lab at school, and just casually put my hands in places where they could see, and they FREAKED. it was hilarious. so much fun. i wish i had've done this to everyone. it was great. My fiance and I were going to do this but I couldn't wait to tell people :-D We were going to go to a wine shop and buy wine and have them make lables saying we got engaged and send them to our closest friends and family. You should get a box, a small one like something youd put a sweater in, and place a card in there. SOmething fancy. Have a family picnic and during the picnic a plane will fly overhead pulling a sign with the news on it. Leave a "mother care" book on the coffee table. Im not sure if this will work for marrage but, on a commercial I saw them going to A&W and they bought the dad a grandpa burger, lol I thought it was kinda cheesy but funny. Wait, and announce it by sending out the invitations Only 22? I know a lot of people that are married before they are 22. Hmm, I agree with the invitation thing. Wear the ring! Ask them to come up with babies names : P |
