What is the average amount of money to spend on a wedding? |
My daughter is getting married soon. What do you think is the average amount to spend for a nice church wedding. There will be about 120 people attending. From what you describe, about $15,000-$25,000. 10000 They say 20,000 is the average now days. But, I just put a wedding together for a friend for about 8,000. That was the minister, flowers, reception hall, food, lots of it, cake, DJ and it was wonderful. Be careful when you do the reception. This is where it can cost you. You can have iced tea on the table with free cokes from the bar but all alcoholic drinks are cash bar. Otherwise you can pay as much as 10.00 or so extra per person for the bar and that is wasted money if everyone doesn't drink. At this past wedding, about 60% did not drink so the cash bar was our option. If you have open bar.....this can be very costly. Hi, Well the national average is $23,000. But you can have a very nice wedding for about $7,000. It just depends on how fancy you want to go. If you do your research you won't have to pay a lot. It depends on a few things - such as your location, price of the reception (sit-down dinner vs. buffet), open bar or not, number of bridesmaids and groomsmen - but I'd say you could do it for between $10,000 - $15,000. I did it for that much and I live in a major metropolitan area. I would set my budject anywhere between 2000 - 4000. I would say anywhere from 10 to 15 thousand. It all depends on what you want and what you do. How much you want to spend? you can have a crappy wedding with just a pastor, couple, and two witnesses, will run you the cost of the rings and the liscence. Or you could go full out and get a fully seated dinner, running around 120 a person. The national average is $30,000.00 give or take a few thousand depending on the area. That is the average for Dallas, TX where I live. About $10,000 to $25,000. For $10,000 you could rent a reception hall and have it catered with average decorations, buffett style dinner, DJ etc. For $25,000 you could have it at a hotel ballroom or golf course and get a seated dinner with open bar, nice flowers and not scrimping on anything. Use a base price of about $100 - $125 per person. Then tack on some frills (decorations, open bar, horse carriage, hotels, etc.) and voila.... a wedding budget. One thing I learned while planning my wedding is you can negotiate with vendors on a lot of things from the wedding dress to the rings and flowers. I am not a very ballsy person but I learned through this process. Just have a budget for each item in mind and then see if your vendor can match it. It helps to act like you might not buy if you can't stay on your budget! My wedding - 215 guests - all the frills - smaller metro area - about 19,000. Gosh! Weddings are expensive, but you can get good deals on many things. If you are able, you should budget not to exceed $10,000. I am doing a small-ish wedding in 2 months and that is just about what I am expecting to pay. (That is including paying off the rings, but I'm starting to think I will keep them financed until the dust settles.) |
