What are good foods to eat when having the flu?

I don't know if it's stomach flu or not.
I'm vegetarian but can eat foods that contain egg.
I won't eat yogurt because it just adds to the flu bacteria.
I do not want to eat anything that can make you throw up.
I get dehydrated easily.
*Please understand that I am vegetarian, not vegan, meaning I can drink milk and such!
Thanks if you can help.

If your stomach is bothering you, stay away from any dairy.... GINGER has a calming effect on nausea, so gingerale, ginger tea and even gingersnaps are good. Saltines ... maybe a sorbet (doesn't have dairy, like sherbet does). Hagen Daz has good mango, raspberry and lemon sorbet. .Popsicles are good too; or jello....I wouldn't worry about eating a balanced diet until you feel better. It's just important to get liquids and SOME food into you now........

You say you are a vegetarian but it's best to avoid dairy because it is mucus forming.

Flu lowers your immunity so build it back up again with 2 important nutrients: Zinc and Vitamin C

Have plenty of fruits and veg, for vitamin C, and consider taking a vitamin C & zinc lozenge (tablet) from a health foods store. Maybe you can make a vegetable soup? Eat lots of fruit as it is easy to digest and will give you a much needed boost.

Zinc is found in nuts & seeds, especially pumpkin seeds, so these are a great snacking option for you. You may consider supplementation until you begin to feel better.

I hope you feel better really soon. :)

Have you ever heard of Thera-Flu?
Here is a recipe for an all-natural version that beats colds in a snap: (do this when you know that you'll be home for the rest of the evening)
~1 cup of water
~1/2 of the juice of a lemon
~1/2" slice of fresh ginger, crushed
~1-2 cloves

In a small sauce pan, bring all ingredients to a slight boil. Allow the drink to cool to a warm drinking temperature. Fish out the non-liquid ingredients with a slotted spoon. Drink the liquid as fast as possible and go straight to bed.

This will make you feel really warm and tingly. It gets rid of fever, cough, nausea and headache. Do the same thing the next evening and you should be feeling better in no time!

The flu is a virus, not a bacteria, so don't even think of asking your doctor for an antibiotic.

Thin brothy soups are good. Add a dollop of miso, which has beneficial properties. Hot, thin liquids are good. Add agave nectar to your hot tea or infusion to ease any sore throat.

If you're nauseated, you might want to get a fruity sorbet. When I'm sick, lemony things help me. If you have a fever, the cold of the sorbet/ice will make you feel a bit cooler. As someone else pointed out, ginger ale or drinks with ginger also help alleviate nausea.

Hope you feel better soon.

First thing, flu is a virus not a bacteria....the bacteria in yogurt can heal the intestinal track.....You should do clear broth until your tummy settles, a good vegetable broth.....hot tea.....I would hold off on milk, cause milk can cause mucous....if it goes to your lungs....

Eat vitamin C; strawberries, oranges, broccoli, sweet potatoes, blueberries.

And, I like to drink clear soup broth (like a hot veggie broth), thats good :)

Have saltine crakers with butter or jelly. I eat that when I have the flu. For lunch, a salad and for dinner some good noodle soup. Hope you luck! Hope you feel better!!

omg! i hope you feel better! i woukd go with cream of wheat/ cream of rice, oatmeal, cerial, carby foods. For snacks i would probably go for pretzels crackers..that kind of stuff. again hope you feel better! 鈾?/div>

A good veg soup. The brothy kind .

Eat saltine crackers...you won't throw that up and it will stay in your tummy.
