I am a pescetarian. How can I get the protien that I need to be healthy?

I eat a lot of cheese, milk, and peanut butter, but for some reason I think that that is not enough for my body to work properly. Also, does your immune system NOT work as well if you don't get enough protein?

If you eat fish, cheese, milk, and peanut butter... you get more than enough protein.
What makes you think you aren't getting enough? did your muscle fall off or something? you should be fine.

Beans are a good way to get proteinnnn. Bush's beans has vegetarian style baked beans.
Soy is a great source of protein, and it's good for women's hormones and such. ^^

If you eat fish and "a lot of cheese, milk and peanut butter" there is NO POSSIBLE WAY you are protein deficient. Your immune system doesn't work at its optimum if you get too much excess protein; in addition to being an immune system irritant, excess protein taxes the kidneys and leaches calcium from your bones. Protein deficiency is almost unheard of in the developed world and you probably only need about 50 grams unless you are some sort of endurance athlete. Try adding up what you're getting and I'd bet money that it's enough. Though you don't mention your intake of fresh fruits and veggies; if you're not getting enough of those your diet IS deficient, just not in protein.

I would ask this question under a different category.. Maybe Health or Diet? Pescetarian is not a type of vegetarian as vegetarians dont eat fish....ever. If you are eating a lot of cheese, milk, fish and PB, you are most likely getting more protein then you need and that can cause issues with your kidneys.

Almost everything you eat has protein. Protein just does not come from animal products.

TOFU!

Hope this website works...

A pescetarian gets most of their protein from fish and seafood.

Bert

do your research. you're getting more than enough protein than your body needs.

sorry, don't fall for the protein scam.. which i have no idea why you're posting this question in this catagory. dairy is not vegetarian/vegan.

ew pescetarian wtf oh yea that's not even a word why do ppl think they are making a difference " just because they just eat poultry" wow i can see you aren't very smart if you are other wise in the wrong category what a waste of our "vegetarians" time whom are making a real difference do me a favor don't ever call yourself that again just call yourself a meat reducer cause that's all you are and you are far by getting enough_too much protein man meat does so much things to your body that you can't even imagine wow I hope you wake up there are only lacto-ovo -Eats both dairy products and eggs. This is the most common type of vegetarian diet. and lacto vegetarian- eats dairy products except for eggs! that word i mean thing pescetarian the dumbest thing ever!

Nuts are very good protein, as well as eggs if you eat those. Otherwise, you should be getting enough protein. You're not eating red meat, which is good--it's a very unhealthy source of protein anyway. I'm not sure of all the details of being a pescetarian, but I'm pretty sure the only proteins you aren't getting are from poultry. You should live a healthy life...just be aware that fish contains trace amounts of mercury, and if eaten in very large quantities, you can get mercury poisoning. (My mother can attest to this fact after eating tuna every day for several years.)

Your immune system will work fine if you don't get enough protein--it won't work fine if you are missing certain vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin C.

In general, protein intake should be around 44 grams for a 120-pound woman and 54 grams for a 150-pound male. You should be able to achieve this easily by eating a balanced vegetarian (or pescetarian) diet.

There are lots of foods besides dairy and peanut butter that you can eat to get your protein. Try whole nuts, beans, whole grains, and green veggeis, as well as soy based products (tofu, soy milk, vegetarian meat substitutes). If you eat eggs, they're also a great source of protein.

This website has a lot of info that will help you plan a well balanced diet that includes enough protein. http://www.vegparadise.com/protein.html
