Why did my friend become a vegetarian on a "spiritual" level? |
One of my friends (who is Hindu) decided to become a vegetarian a few years back. Out of curiosity, I asked her, is your decision to be vegetarian a religious reason? And she said, it's not really a religious reason, it's more of a spiritual reason. perhaps he is beginning to respect animal rights. see this website for a more psiritual reason to give up meat. I have a friend who is Hindu and also her whole family is vegetarian, she said it was because of her religion. So I'm guessing it may be the same with your friend. But Im not an expert on the Hindu religion. It means she wants to be a half-assed Hindu always with one foot in the door, and one out. Maybe she mean't that she felt spirtually better if she knew that she wasn't consuming animals.. idk.. jus guessing!! She means that she is giving herself the right foods to grow from with in her self. her spirit. She wants nothing to harm her spirit. I am vegitarian and I did for my health and spirit. It makes me feel better I guess, meat is acutly pretty bad for your body. You digest it when it rots in your body..i mean idk and its bad for your heart. I personaly don't like how meat tastes I think its gross. And I love my veggies. I also dont like junk food like chips candy hamburgurs..idk lol sorry for rambling on I think it was more of her stressing that it wasn't religious, doing it out of a ritual,, how shallow Non vegetarian food is got after killing animals. May be she would have decided not to harm animals and that is why she decided in that way. Spirituality includes yoga, meditation not to injure others, respecting elders etc. Cos every animal you eat, there are living.. and they believe in karma.. the spiritual reason.. Probably because spiritual in some ways means kind of neutral and good and there are different beliefs but maybe because she might believe that animals should not be eaten or at least she should not eat them because they have lives to live as well. How would we know why don't you ask your friend. i think is meant that she didn't eat another living creater. She probably has a very high respect for animals maybe she said that its not religion that mean that religion dont force her to it but deep down her she feels that she dont wanna eat animals maybe bcz she feels with them and she dont wanna hurt them. It's perfectly acceptable to ask your friend what she means by that. I'm sure she'd appreciate you wanting to understand. Ask her. probly she means tht she wants to stay healthy. maybe, idk thts wierd to say. idk. but i think vegetarians are wierd. no offence, but in the words of ron white (a commedian) i didnt climb to the top of the food chain to eat carrots. |
