How long did it take you to become a vegetarian/vegan? |
I'm trying to give up meat gradually. How long did it take you before you were a total vegetarian or vegan? Was it hard? I actually gave it up cold turkey. I stopped eating meat cold turkey. I just said I will never eat meat again and I never did. All depend on yourself and determination.i took about one month as my parents and my wife is afraid that i had problems in my health so i agre and gradually increased the meal and decreased the meat intake. It is not so hard to change and there is nothing i miss about meat.I am now a Full vegetatian. Ai Mi Tuo Fo as long as it takes you to stop eating meat Vegetarian? Right away. I literally decided to go vegetarian during the course of an afternoon spent reading up on the subject, and never ate meat again. i was already a vegetarian for 6ish years I became a vegetarian the minute I decided to. It took 2 years to become vegan, though. Both weren't easy. I had to brainwash myself into both by torturing myself with horrifying videos and literature detailing the exploitation of innocent animals. i gave up cold turkey. one day i was eating meat/dairy, then i happened upon a book, read it, did some research on the internet and quit. i don't think it was hard in the slightest. It took me about two weeks or less. My idea was to eat no meat for one day, then eat meat one day, no meat for two days, and gradually increase how many days I went without meat. one night after dinner, i asked my mum if she would support my idea to not eat meat, and i haven't since then. i had been looking up vegetarianism for a little while so i knew enough about it to make an informed decision. i did find it hard at first, but then i would just remind myself that i didn't need it, and that my body was just craving it. i got over it and haven't actually wanted meat for a while. in a way it was hard, but it gets easier. good luck Couple weeks for me. I was just reading about each thing that I ate and substituting each item for something healthier... two weeks later... no more animal products... but it tool many more months to get rid of additives, preservatives, colours, msg, and all that other non-food stuff... and switch from frozen oj, to non-concentrate oj, then to actual real oranges... so it took awhile to finally get to eating mostly *real* food. Maybe about a year or two... but the whole learning process went on for ten years... the whole intricacies of our food... the hidden truths, lies, cover-ups etc. there are so many hidden aspects to our food that basically unless you are eating from your own garden, you are at the mercy of others. I went vegetarian immediately after watching this: Since to begin with I did not eat that much red meat so when I was like *Hey, I am going to go veg*, I gave up red meat at first, for about a while I still ate chicken from time to time due to being ignorant, naive, and my surroundings, then I gave up all meat. Then about 7 years later (last year) I learned about the dairy industry and was sickened. About two months later I cut out dairy, and every other product that contains or is a by-product of animals. I never wore fur or leather so did not have throw any of those out. Go vegetarian was extremely easy. Going vegan was a lot harder, but definitely worth it! |
