Can I brew kombucha with the cultures I got from a drink I bought?

I'm brewing it with green tea and sugar as instructed, using the live cultures from a drink I bought as "starters."

Will this work? Any tips?

I don't know squat about kombucha, but the thread below is a how-to and I think they discuss starting from bottled kombucha. There are a lot of other kombucha threads on those forums as well, so if you do a search for it, you'll come up with more info.
