What vitamins and minerals are vegetarians and vegans missing out on?

i know we need vitamin b, the omegas, and calcium. what else?

in regards to a vegetarian diet, grown vegetarians get enough protein through nuts, veggies, fruits, etc.,so that is not a issue...what is a issue is b12, vitamin d, calcium, iron and zinc most of those can be found in fortified cereals and soy products,...if you are a vegetarians make sure you are getting b12, vitamin d, calcium, iron and zinc in your diet...

Eat products with yeast, green leafy vegetables, nuts or legumes, and some flax seed or Hemp seeds along with a balanced diet and you should be fine.

Nutritional yeast is delcious on many things - like popcorn, pasta.

A well balanced diet is not missing out on anything.

protein is a definate must. Tofu is a good source. Also take vitamins. When I first went vegan a few years ago, I basically ate salad and veggies.....until my hair started falling out like crazy!
Nuts & beans are a good source of protein also.

None, vegetarians can get all the vitamins and nutrients they need with a balanced diet. The protein scare is the biggest misconception about vegetarian diets. There are quite a bit of misconceptions so here are some web sites I think will help. The first is a list of vegetables with protein and how much the second are calcium sources in raw veggies. The third is an article about B12. It is actually a microbe found in soil and is abundant in seaweed, tempeh, miso, and root veggies. The last one is a list of foods with iron and how much. As for Omega 3 and 6 you can get it from flaxseed, walnuts, soy, and grapes.

We can't understand you because we are all vitamin deficient and our brains don't work anymore.
kidding... make sure you are getting enough iron..

Well actually there are supplements that can provide all of what you said. However they are to supplement. You should get them from food =} Guess I am on both sides here.
