What is a reason why kids who are vegatarians at school not be able to eat school food?

Obviously most schools have salads and veggi wraps, but what's a good reason why kids shouldn't eat the salads or wraps at school, other than they might not like them?

HELP!

Because most of the world eats a balanced diet. Vegetarians should pack their lunch, and the parents should make sure of it, because its not the schools problem to support someones food religion.

Because they don't care. Vegans/Vegetarians are of a minority and until more people start wanting animal friendly products, they will not start offering them. I have talked and talked to my school about getting vegan foods, other than french fries, in the cafeteria, but they tell me their suppliers don't offer them or that the school would waste their money because everyone else wants meat. (Most people at my age don't care about what they put in their mouths.) The person in the cafeteria knows I won't eat their food and tries to get me to eat a disgusting salad, which has chicken, and maybe cheese, already on it, with no salad dressing because all the salad dressings aren't vegan and he even says they have nutritional value when I know if someone lived off salad for a week they would starve. My school doesn't have wraps, but I'm sure they wouldn't be Ovo-Lacto-Vegetarian, let alone vegetarian.
I just bring something to snack on until I leave like sunflower seeds. I also eat a good breakfast that keeps me full, but I have found with veganism I'm always hungry and so I eat constantly. If you are a vegetarian, it wouldn't hurt to talk to the school about more choices, but in the mean time, bringing your own lunch wouldn't hurt just to be on the safe side.

I understand your question fully, because both my kids (10 and 15) are vegetarians. Unfortunately, most schools DON"T have veggie wraps and salads. At my youngest daughters school, there is one lunch served each day. She can eat the food about 3 times a month, when they have bean and cheese burritos, grilled cheese sandwiches or mac and cheese. The rest of the time, the main entree always has meat. Spagetti with meatballs, but they also add meat to the sauce, pizza (has small bits of pepperoni), chicken nuggets, ribaque(?)on a bun, burgers, dogs, etc. If they would offer more than one choice, it would be nice.
As to the High school student, so many kids decide to try a vegetarian diet once they hit high school, that my daughter says the lines for salads are way too long to get food before she has to go back to class. So she gets a drink and eats when she gets home.

You're never really aware of what ingredients are used in school food. Most vegetarian kids (like my step daughters) are also organic... so... i don't like the concept of my kid eating high fructose corn syrup or MSG. They could also use something like bacon fat in the green beans, and I'm not ok with that either.

It's best to be SURE of the ingredients, and unless they provide the list, I wouldn't do it.

We are in the meat country.

I'm a vegan... I avoid animal ingredients on food, clothes, cleaning products... everywhere... and sometimes it comes hard to deal (now I'm used to and I know what to buy)

However, at some states/cities they may be more/less vegan friendly.
San Francisco is extremely vegan friendly... and Chicago, my home town is totally unfriendly.

You may look for a vegan friendly school... or if it's a private school... what the heck!!! You are paying!!!! You can't request them to cook tofu, use soy products or learn how to do a tempeh "meatloaf"... but there are many vegan recipes pretty easy to develop (and you said vegetarian... so it's even easier)

You can call you school and discuss about it!!! Requesting more greens and non animal products is a must for all schools.

e coli?
lol
idk

Because a salad is just water. Children's ability to enjoy healthy, nutritious food at school shouldnt be restricted because of their ethical choices!

Quite honestly, public school lunch programs are the greatest contributors to meat industry profit and the political gain of those they put in office.

I don't think you can use the "vegetarian" excuse to keep a kid from eating school lunches...

However, if you don't want your kids eating school lunches, pack them a lunch. Kids have been taking their lunches to school for years.

Now, if you're trying to find a way for a kid to be able to go "off campus" for lunch just because they're vegetarian... I don't see that flying, and I think it's pretty dumb to try. Kids are a lot safer eating at school than going out and driving or walking through traffic on a limited time frame to get something to eat.

They might get tired of eating the same thing everyday but can bring lunch too, if that's the case. I don't see why they "shouldn't" eat that stuff though.

a lot of parents do not want their children to have all the extra preservatives that are in a LOT of school food..

I am sorry, I do not understand your question. Please can you clarify? Then I can write more. Thanks.

Possibly because lunch preparation may not be up to standard with keeping meat and veggies completely separate.

Another reason is because school vegetarian lunches may not provide all the nutrients needed. A lot are very unhealthy.

The most delicious and healthy vegetarian lunches are a lot more costly to make so most vegetarian school lunches are gross, bland, and/or unhealthy.

School food's probably the most unhealthiest garbage you could feed a kid. Most of those fruits and veggies are genetically modified so they'll practically last forever. I know scorpion DNA is used in some fruits to keep it preserved. It hasn't been known to be harmful, but it's not necessarily vegetarian either because the scorpion DNA isn't pure accident: It's on purpose unlike the concubines that harvest frutis, but parts of insects end up in the fruits in the process.
