Can you become a part time vegetarian if you still eat seafood and poultry. I love turkey?

Especially since thanksgiving is coming and you only eat turkey at thanksgiving and christmas, well my family do. Please share.

I eat turkey, but never beef, except as an occassional burger. I like sea food, too. If I can be that way, so can you. Something people, including vegetarians don't realize is that there are two kinds of vegetarians- 1. The vegans. 2. The vegetarians who eat fish and poultry, but never beef.

Welcome. My mother and step father are that way.
They never eat meat (Beef, pastrami....). Report Abuse

You aren't a vegetarian if you do that. You're a flexitarian, which is ok I guess. Not as good a a vegetarian, but certainly better than a carnivore. Just don't call yourself a "vegetarian" because technically you aren't one. 鈾?/div>

maybe

No. Some highly misinformed people will say that you can be a vegetarian and still eat those things.. but it's simply not true. Seafood and poultry are creatures that must be killed in order to be eaten. That's pretty obvious to everybody.

People who still eat those things and claim to be vegetarian are sometimes called "semi-vegetarian" - but in truth they could also be defined as "semi-meat-eaters." But since most of the general population are already existing on a mixture of vegetables and meat.. it's not really saying much to be honest.

A true vegetarian would never eat those things. Most see life as a precious gift for all - and they see it as an incredibly selfish thing to destroy a life just in order to satisfy your own taste buds. It's a moral decision more than anything - A simple wish not to contribute to any animal's suffering. :-)

Why do you want to be vegetarian? Animal rights or you don't like the taste? I say do the best that you can and just be happy. If you want the turkey, have it. Everything in moderation : )

It depends on your reasons for being a vegetarian - eg health or philosophical or religious.

If you think that after eating turkey you won't feel guilty, then maybe it's ok. If by being a part time vegetarian you eat less meat than you would otherwise, then at least that's something.

If you're worried others will critisize you (for being a vegetarian, or for eating meat) then try to ignore them.

You can choose not to eat meat at any time you like, but can only define yourself as a vegetarian if you permanently do not each flesh, fish or foul.

It's called being a flexitarian. Just don't call yourself a vegetarian, real vegetarians might get angry.
There's no problem with eating meat once in a while

No. You cannot be a part-time non-smoker and you cannot be a part-time vegetarian. You can, however, make a concsious choice to cut back drastically on your meat consumption. You don't have to label yourself. As long as you're doing what makes you feel great, and thinking about the choices you make, that's all that matters.

You don't have to call yourself anything. If you want, just eat more veggies and less meat. We've been doing that now for a while, trying to get healthier and lose weight. We just call it healthy eating. (-:

You wouldn't really be a vegetarian. . .You would just not be eating red meat really. Lots of people do that though.

Don't call yourself anything; eat what you want. If you're trying to eat healthy, then just stay away from red meat and eat things like turkey, lean chicken, and fish. That's what I do :)

That doesn't make much sense to me.

You either are or you aren't.

Here's a link for you, I hope you think of where the poor turkey came from when you are enjoying Thanksgiving.

Well you couldnt call your self a vegetarian.

One of my mothers friends told me something "think about the animals your saving" ... so even if you cut down on meat.. or give up eggs but still drink milk.. or jus cut back on milk etc.... your sparing animals pain.... jus think about that.

You can't really call yourself a vegetarian, but minimal meat consumption is good. Try to buy humanely raised birds when you do indulge
