What is the difference between a vegitarian and a vegan?

I noticed today that no one has ever explained it to me.

Vegetarians do not consume beef, poultry, fish, and all the other animals. Included in this list is gelatin and animal rennet. They are directly from animals, unlike animal byproducts which I'm about to talk about.

Vegans do not consume everything that vegetarians don't. The distinction is that they take it a step farther and abstain from dairy products, eggs, honey, and any other animal by product. Vegans also do not wear fur or leather.

Also, some people do not consume beef or poultry, but they do eat fish. These people are sometimes wrongly classified as vegetarians. Instead, the proper name for them would be "pescatarians".

These definitions are somewhat general. Some vegetarians do eat gelatin and rennet even though they are directly made from animals. Some vegans will eat eggs from their own personal flock. Some vegans will eat honey. It all depends on what each individual believes. Some chose this lifestyle for different reasons, including health, ethics, and the environment. So the different causes lead to different behaviors. But these are the definitions of them.

Vegetarian doesn't eat meat. They do eat dairy products, etc. However, a vegan is kind of like the extreme version of Vegetarian. They don't eat any meat, OR anything that is made, or taken from the animal. Like cows and milk. So vegans would only drink like....Orange juice in the morning instead of milk. And would eat veggies instead of cheese...Hope this helps!

Vegitarian - eats no meat
Vegan - eats no animal by-products - milk, eggs, cheese, ect

Vegetarians eat some animal derived foods, like eggs or dairy.

lacto-ovo vegetarians still eat dairy and eggs.
lacto vegetarians still eat dairy like milk.
ovo vegetarians still eat eggs, but not dairy.

Vegans however, they eat none of that, no dairy, eggs, or anything else that is derived from an animal.

Vegetarians don't eat animals. Vegans don't eat animals or anything that comes from animals (like milk, eggs, gelatin, etc.)

vegitarians dont eat meat, while vegans dont eat meat or any animal byproduct, (such as eggs and milk)

Vegetarians don't eat meat or any dish that contains meat. Fish is meat too. Some are confused on this fact. Just in case I figured I'd tell you.

Vegans don't eat meat or by products of meat. By products are basicly anything dairy and things like leather. They don't wear leather anything. They normally won't even use other products that have animal parts in them. Examples are shampoo, soap, and gelcap vitamins. No animal by products whatsoever.

vegitarians just dont eat meat, fish, or any othe type of animal. vegans however dont eat any of that plus any dairy produce (eg eggs or milk)

vegetarians do not eat meat (animals/flesh). Vegans do not eat the animal or any products related to the animal (milk, eggs, lard, etc). The vegans are very strict in eliminating any 'animal products'

Vegans are vegetarians either with (1) their brains knocked out (2) have a serious Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder or a combination of both.
