Do vegans believe that we should limit the growth of the population?

Should we quit making new medicine because it exploits animals? Therefore, more people will die from disease. Also, should people limit their number of children, since it takes so much to feed people these days? Thoughts?

The majority of vegans probably have not even contemplated such a thing though I'm sure it has crossed the minds of the few really radical ones. And not only vegans either. The genocide we have witnessed in the Balkans, Somalia , Darfur etc are examples of such ideas being attempted by mostly non vegans.

The only good thing about such a thought is that ego driven self proclaimed heroine of the cows Ingrid Whats-Her-Name of PETA will not have any offspring as she had herself sterilized a long time ago.

Vegans are individuals. Contrary to popular belief, we actually have differing opinions beyond not exploiting animals.

By the way, "new medicine" doesn't exploit animals. They CHOOSE to test on animals. It's not a requirement of coming up with new medication.

Why do you have to be a vegan to think this.

The world is over-populated - any Tom, Dick or Harry knows that.

Natural medicine works extremely well, and does not exploit animals.

The main exploiting done by medicine companies is the exploiting of people. People are fairly lazy in general, so instead of curing their disease by simply changing to a healthier diet or doing a bit of exercise, they want to take a 鈥渕agic pill鈥?(never mind the potential side-effects) medicine companies know this and so produce pills for all sorts of idiotic things.

.

I believe in finding alternative ways of testing rather than on animals. I don't know why people are so reluctant to find ways to be less dependent upon animals, but I personally think it's the right way. I know not everyone agrees with that, however.
There was a time when people were very concerned about population explosion, that seems to have gone to the wayside and it shouldn't because there are just too many people in the world, but I think the solution is through birth control. Most of the worlds people who live in poverty are children and the earth's resources are growing slimmer every year.

Should we quit making new medicine because it exploits animals?

No we shouldn't. I have no problem with products and procedures being tested on animals regarding health and health products.

Obbsseesssiiiooonnnn.
**

nope.

Why would you assume that vegan in general have a blanket policy on population growth?

I personally think that the planet's resources are obviously strained as it is, so more people aren't going to help that problem. But it's not like I'm going to say anyone alive today doesn鈥檛 have the right to be here, and while some of them really shouldn鈥檛 reproduce for the sake of the gene pool I'm not going to tell them they can't have kids.

For a number of factors, including overpopulation, I choose not to have children.

well..... when i see tress be cut down i sometimes cry.... my momalways says god put trees on the earth for us to cut down....so maybe animals were put on the earth for the same reason!!!
