Is it natural for humans to drink cows milk?

I know anytime after i eat of drink anything dairy i get a sore tummy and bad bowels.Has this happend to you?

I suppose it must be natural (somehow!) Sounds to me like you are lactose intolerant - try switching to soya, rice or almond milk.

You may be lactose intolerant and no it isnt natural for us to drink cows milk. Cows have three stomachs to process the milk we don't.

It's not natural, but a lot of stuff we do isn't.

That said, I will echo what everyone else said: cows produce milk for their babies, not for humans. They are artificially inseminated, kept constantly pregnant, pumped up with hormones so they produce excess milk, pumped up wtih antibiotics to quell infections from constant milking, etc. Cows' milk is for baby cows, goats' milk is for baby goats, cats' milk is for kittens, dogs' milk is for baby dogs, rats' milk is for baby rats--you get the picture. All mammals make milk for their babies and none of them drink the milk of another species, nor do they drink milk after infancy.

Sounds like you are indeed lactose intolerant. There's soy milk, rice milk, nut milks, oat milks, soy ice cream, rice ice cream, soy sour cream, soy cream cheese, and even soy and rice cheeses. Many soy and rice cheeses have casein (a dairy protein), but since they are lactose free, you may want to give them a try.

And check out Tofutti, a company with foods geared towards the lactose intolerant.

You, my dear are suffering from a Allergy Reaction. No it is not natural for humans to drink the milk of "creatures". Milk is in the top 5 of allergens.
STOP using dairy, there are dozens of substitutes on the market if you want a "milk like" beverage, plenty of dairy free Ice Creams, cheeses etc.
Milk is not only bad for you as it is now produced it can be VERY bad for you.

Slaint茅 (to your health)

This is a very good question. Many people will chime in and say that is not good because of lactose intolerance. Some even say drinking raw milk is good because it has the lactase in it.

Well here is my take on this question. There are no rules that say that we can or cannot eat something unless we are allergic to the food then we will find out in a hurry.

On the norm however our stomach can consume a huge variety of materials. Amazingly, the acids in our stomachs can break down almost any food.

This happens to a lot of people. Like all mammals, humans are designed to drink mother's milk, and that in infancy only. No other mammal drinks the milk of another species, nor do they drink milk in adulthood. At about the age of 4, many humans lose the ability to digest lactose, a component in milk. Based on your symptoms, I would say you are one of the many lactose-intolerant people out there. In some populations, lactose-intolerance runs as high as 90%.

No, drinking cow's milk is not natural. Cow's milk is Nature's perfect food for a calf, but nothing else. Calves double their body weight in the first 47 days of life on cow's milk alone. It's designed to support an infant that will eventually grow to half a ton. Are you seeking to double your body weight in 47 days? Are you a baby cow? Do you want to end up half a ton? If not, then cow's milk is not "natural" for you.

You can do your tummy and your bowels a service by quitting dairy. Don't worry about calcium or protein; you can get plenty of these from other sources. In fact, digesting excess amounts of animal protein results in your body leaching calcium from your bones and the populations in the world that drink the least milk have the lowest rates of osteoporosis because of this.

Edit to add: To the person who said cows HAVE to be milked for their health and that it would be wasted if humans didn't drink it.... that is the most moronic thing I have ever heard. Left to their own devices, cows would produce one offspring per year and that calf would consume her milk. To meet the demand for dairy products, dairy farmers have bred cows that produce many times more milk than is "natural" and then they artificially inseminate them over and over again to keep them pregnant and keep them producing. Still, their offspring should be the ones doing the milking, but calves are removed from their mothers often within the first 24 hours of life so they don't damage the profit margin by consuming too much of the product. Male calves are worthless to a dairy operation, so they are sold to veal outfits to endure a shockingly short life of unspeakable torture. Milk is in NO way natural, and we are not protecting the health of the cows by milking them. We are the ones damaging their health to begin with by the conditions we keep them in Go ahead and drink milk if you want, but don't try to make yourself feel all warm and fuzzy about it by portraying it as some benevolent act.

No..it's not natural. Cows milk is for calves. Many humans can't digest cows milk.

It sounds like you may be lactose intolerant. Did you know that humans are the only animals that continue to drink milk after they become adults?

Somebody tell me the last time they saw a wild cow. The cow as we know it today is the process of much selective breeding. Over thousands of years humans have bread cows for their meat and their milk. So much so that they don't resemble the original animal it came from. If you look at paintings of cows from the 18th century they are a completely different shape, because before and since then they have been bread selectively to fulfil certain needs. So the real question is are cows 'natural' in the first place...

Not really, that is why most people in the world are "lactose intolerant." Mainly people of northern European descent are tolerant (an evolutionary mutation) since they began consuming dairy many years ago.

The human body normally becomes intolerant after the baby stops drinking breast milk.

No, but we do it anyways! You are probably lactose intolerant or have an allergy to dairy.

is this the thanks I get?

No, it is not natural at all. However, Michael H will try to convince you it is okay. He claims he lets his cows out of the barn an hour a day for exercise and that qualifies as being free range? Please, give me a break. How would you like if someone kept you locked up in a barn all day and only let you out for one hour. Drinking milk is not natural, I don't care what Michael H has to say.

No, it's not natural, for two reasons.

Firstly, because milk is a very rich ingredient, that's made for young animals. It's way to rich for adults. Have a look at other animals, none of them drink milk once they're grown up. Our stomachs change, they are no longer able to digest it. That's why it upsets our body. Try switching to soya milk.

Secondly because it's not natural to drink another specie's milk. Once again, we are the only animal to do so. Our mum's were generally kind enough to supply us with milk as long as we needed it. We don't need another animal's milk.

Hope this info helps.

Go vegan!

Sounds like you're lactose intolerant.
However; you only have to look at nature to see that drinking milk past infancy is unnatural; we're the only ones in the animal kingdom who do it!

No, maybe you are lactose intolerant. Who was the first person to think, I'm gonna pull this thing under this animal and drink whatever comes out?! I am a little concerned about that, but it doesn't put me off!

Some people are lactose intolerant; it sound like you are (along with many Oriental people too).

That does not mean it is not unnatural to do this, however.

Yes it is one of the most natural things to do. but if you feel sick after drinking it oyu may be lactose intolerant. Just go to your docs and they can do a test for you to see if you are.

What do you think the first person thought they were doing when they invented milking cows???

Its sooo wrong!!

not really, it is only natural for animals to drink the milk of their own species so (unless you count yourself as a cow) its not technically natural

few more reasons why its not only un natural but cruel aswel http://www.milksucks.co.uk/

i'm fine with cows milk and other dairy products but i have to give my youngest son goats milk

I do drink milk, but no it is not natural. Do you know of any other animal that will drink the milk of a different species? Or drinks milk as an adult?

Human milk is natural for a human infants to drink. Cows milk is designed to be drank by a calf.

You may be lactose intoleratnt and the "bad bowels" is a good indicator this is so. You may have to go to soy or rice milk. Some people do well on goat's milk.

An as to whether or not it is "natural" the eons of human existence would suggest our ancestors did quite well on all forms of milk . . . cow, goat, even camel's milk, and hence is a prima facie case that indeed it is "natural."

No. Its natural for Humans to drink Human Milk. Beyond weening its not natural. No other species on the planet runs around milking other Mammals and consuming the milk. I'm sure a breast feeding mother would be quit disturbed if a cow threw a breast pump on her, milked her, then sold the milk to other cows.

You might just be intolerant to cows milk. Try goats milk or Soya milk

yes silly milly, people ACTUALLY drink COW MILK! (o0o0o0o0o0o0)

I'm fine with any dairy product, maybe you are allergic to dairy product?

And yes its natural, because if it is not natural, then where else can you get milk? Milk are needed for many reason, for cooking, for bone as calcium source, for skin care, and for tons of other reason.

Do you dare to suck the milk out of your mommy's breast????

There is nothing called a "farm of human milk", where they raise female human so they can produce milk and sell their milk to the market so that WE can use their milk instead of using cows milk. Do you think anything like that could happen??? I ask you now.

Humans milk can only be used for their own infant, not for any other reason.

Other species does not drink the milk of other species that's because they don't need anymore milk when they became full-grown, they only need milk while they are still babies, and the milk came only from the mother.

Any of you who said its not natural, you need to learn!!!

you are likely lactose intolerant. it happens. considering cows HAVE to be milked for their health, wouldn't it be a waste if it all just got poured down the gutter?

Try eating the meat of the cow.. I get a rush out of it.

Yesterday I had bacon, chicken, and catfish.

Today so far, I had ham and eggs.

Lunch will be leftover chicken.

Tonight we are having turkey casserole.

This weekend barbecuing STEAKS! mmmmm, rare and red. yum yum!

I love milk
