Have you ever been thought a nut by your family for choosing vegetarianism?

Most of them -- the dear old aunt and uncle network -- don't get it. Do you think they think you're a nut for your choice?

They think it's a form of rebellion, and that I will grow out of it.
LOL, not likely!

I went through a veggie stage when I was about 13, not because I disapprove of eating meat but I just went off the taste for a while. My parents thought it strange but in no way did they think I was a nut because of it. They encouraged us to be true to ourselves so if I didn't want to eat meat then I didn't have to eat it.

YES!

I have been vegetarian for over a year now, im the only one in my family. My mum supports me the entire way and my dad stopped eating red meat because of me. It is important to have support from your parents. I have been questioned by my uncles, and made fun of by my cousins, but my choice is my choice and im going to stick with it.

Yes they think you could be a nut because your definitely not a leg of lamb being a veggie person and all.

when i told my uncle mike i was a vegetarian he flipped out he was like did you know if humans never ate meat we'd still be monkeys we would have never evolved. it was akward

No, but I'm almost certain that you're thought of a nut for other reasons. (See your picture)

Yes, they did when I made my announcement years ago and they still think so today. They think it's a phase. lol. (yeah, right!)

I just shrug, smile and tell them how wonderful I feel.

My 18yr old granddaughter is a vegan. I can tell you, its taken some getting used to. She eats everything raw, nothing is cooked. She is the healthiest, fittest, person I know so I cant knock it!! She has had to take lots of flack over it tho, but she takes it all and just carries on , making wonderful dishes, pureed drinks etc.

My mum doesn't, but only because she's been vegan in the past, and is now vegetarian.

No one else quite understands why I'd want to give up that oh-so-tasty (not) meat.
