What can a vegan eat to increase his weight?

He does eat some milk products though, like ice cream and every now and then white chocolate.

Protein powder from a health food store should bulk him up !
You can get them in lots of flavours like Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla .
He can use Soymilk insead of regular milk to make his shake 鈽?/div>

He is not a vegan if he is eating dairy products. Anyway he can eat nuts and legumes. Also avocados are loaded with fat.

arnold swartzenager (or however it is spelled) is vegan

Gaining weight is a function of eating more calories than one burns off. Regardless of whether you're a meat eater, a vegetarian, or a vegan, gaining weight means eating more calories. Those calories can be made up of anything and what would be best for him depends on what he's already eating (i.e. if he eats a very low fat diet, he's got some room to add more fat to his meals via olive oil, avocado or other heart-healty fats.)

pasta

My initial instinct was to say beef since I am an omni but that would be wrong wouldn't it?
since he not averse to dairy (which also means he is not a true vegan), lots and lots of milk/dairy, eggs (if that is acceptable to him too) and carbohydrates like pasta (oil and cream based suces) and rice.. High calorie plant foods such avocados, coconuts and nuts are good too.

PS As you know, increase in weight is not necessarily healthy.

There are some good answers on here but I think the key is to gain weight in a HEALTHY way :D
So...the avocados sound like a great idea...they are delicious, full of good fat, and healthy.
Nuts are a good idea...once gain, good fat, and some protein.
While carbs will help gain weight I don't think you want to load up on them. One great idea is dried fruit. I have read that athletes who want to quickly gain weight in a healthy way will eat dried fruits. They are delicious, healthy, have fiber, etc. With dried fruit it is really easy to eat a lot of fruit without realizing (because it is now so small :D). People who are on diets often make the mistake of eating to much dried fruit...its healthy but inadvertently works against their goal...so logically you can use that to your advantage to gain weight!

Eating more to increase your weight is for everybody! Vegan or not.

Unless you have a high metabolism and can eat everything and not gain any weight.

Then I would suggest working out with weights and increase protein (plus the carbs and fats to help out) with powder shakes to gain muscle mass.

1. Eat lots of avocado. They are 400 calories per avocado, which is about the size of a pear, so they can easily pack on pounds. Use them like butter - spread them on bread and salt lightly, or cut into salads.

2. There are extremely high calorie, decandent soy ice creams that are vegan-friendly, you can purchase them at Whole Foods, they top out at 200+ calories per half a cup. If you eat the whole pint you're at least 800-1000 calories in the hole.

3. Nuts and seeds are extremely high calorie. Eat peanut butter straight from the jar, snack on almonds and peanuts.

4. Potato chips, though not exactly healthy, are typically vegan. A regular bag of potato chips can have as much as 2000 calories per bag! That's a whole day's worth of calories. For a healthier twist, try sweet potato chips, they have vitamins in them, at least.

5. Vegan energy bars can be purchased at health food stores like Whole Foods. They are usually over 200 calories each and are like candy bars.
