How much better do you really feel if you stick to a steamed vegetable and lean meat diet? |
I think this can be so monotonous and tedious, but I think you do feel drastically better after a few weeks expecially. ESPECIALLY HAVING TO TAKE THE TIME AND EFFORT TO CUT UP THE VEGETABLES AND WASH EVERYTHING. You are asking about lean meat in the Vegetarian section. The 2 terms do not belong together. I tried it few years back. You will feel better and lighter. You are going to stop the intake of carbohydrates and sweets, instead you are encourage to consume proteins and other minerals from veges and meat. It requires a lot of self discipline and hard work. It will encourage you to consider other healthy lifestyle option like cutting down alcohol intake and maximizing your sleep. And further on exercise. Good Luck! if you can handle a drastic drop in energy levels you might feel better. The fats and oils provide needed energy. If you don't burn it off, then eating leaner will make you feel better, if you need the energy you will not feel better. Yes, if you make sure not to steam them into oblivion. I steam all vegetables slightly so they are hot, but retain some crispness--al dente' is the term. Steaming is a great way to cook the nutrients out of vegetables and into the steam water. Proven fact, steaming retains more of the nutrients than any other way. Boiling in a pan results in the nutrients being thrown away with the water, unless you drink the water. You feel better from the steaming etc because you are keeping your body weight down or even lowering it. Cut out the monotony by using different veg every day. Most people seem stuck on Broccoli and Carrots. I wouldn't know as I don't eat meat and never will again... I can tell you that I feel a lot better from not eating meat. My body is thanking me for it and so is my conscience. Perhaps your question would be better suited in another category if you're asking a meat-related question. Steamed vegetables are extremely healthy for you and if you have a balanced vegetarian or vegan diet you will feel the health benefits. Sorry, I'm not trying to preach my ethics but you did ask this in the vegetarian and vegan forum so I'm giving you my vegan opinion. Proabably better than if you just eat vegetables but not as good as if you eat normal meat and get some exercise. Steaming is ok as a cooking method and like boiling tends to leave food tasting bland compared to other methods. this is because most other methods cook at a higher temperature. This leads to a greater change in the structure of the food for example if you fry food you can get parts of the structure to caramalize therefore adding subtle changes in flavour. Frying is not a bad way of cooking if done properly and at an intially high enough flavour. (bet that gets some idiot comments) If you want to feel *better* it's not just about getting lean meat, you need hormone and antibiotic free meat. |
