Is it safe to eat the skin on an uncooked carrot if I wash it? |
It is "organic", does that matter? This is in the US. Not only safe but even healthier. The skin has all the vitamins and nutrients. Absolutely. Cooks discard it because it's not "pretty", but it has some of the healthist stuff in the carrot. Wash it, enjoy it. Yes it is fine. Organic does matter, it means less chemical exposure to your body. Your body is bombarded with all kinds of very to slightly toxic chemicals in this world we now live in. Anyway you can limit your exposure is beneficial to you. What can be more invasive than putting something inside your body? yes yes ofcourse! full of nutrients. Well, if it's from your own garden and organic, you could eat the dirt too, no prob. Yes it's safe... I never peel my carrots. Just wash them well. I would however peel non organic carrots. yeah thats fine, people eat raw carrot all the time, i dont personally like it but some people do. Of course! That is where a lot of the vitamins and minerals are. I use a sponge that I keep to the side for vegetables and fruit. I use the "scritchy" side of the sponge and scrub it down. That removes the dirt in the crevices. I am of the opinion that all vegetables and fruits consumed should be organic because pesticide exposure is harmful to your health. The pesticide is absorbed into the plant when it is applied. Have an awesome day eating carrots! The outer skin of carrots has a bitterness to it that most cooks try to avoid. It isn't unsafe, just bitter. the skin of vegetables and fruit contain the most nutrients. If the carrot is organic, it is fine to eat it, especially if you give it a good wash first. If it is not organic, there could be pesticides on the skin though. I never peel carrots unless they are really dirty, I think it is healthier not to peel them Dont worry man, you dont even have to wash it all that much. |
