What do vegetarians replace cheese with?. I want to make a pizza for a vegan party, but?

I want to make a pizza for a vegan party, but I just can't imagine pizza without cheese. Any ideas?. Please something that taste good.

THANKS

If you want something that tastes good, use real cheese. If you want something that will substitute and is vegetarian, look for something at your local grocery store called "Veggie Shreds." (They're made from soy.) A coworker uses this (not a vegetarian, but she's on a low fat diet) and made some lasagna one time using it. To me, it tasted very bitter and had an odd after taste. Also, it didn't melt... I guess in a pinch it would be OK. Also, if you're making this for people who have been vegetarian for a long time, chances are they've already eaten and and are used to the flavor.

GO to a health food store and buy vegan cheese. Or you can make it without cheese.

I have seen vegan cheese in the grocery store

There are vegan cheeses out there... but try a pizza with olive oil, fresh spinach and olives... that's some good eatin there :)

Look in the vegetarian section of your supermarket. They make "cheese" that is vegan friendly

Tofu or soy cheese (look in the vegan section of your grocery). There's a great recipe on the Food Network linked below

soy cheese, though not all is vegan. i'd just make a tomato pie. the crust has to be vegan too obviously.

Poppyseeds on Crust or Sesame seeds mixed in as well.
Olive Oil Extra Virgin
Fresh Garlic Minced
Fresh Basil Chopped
Fresh Tomatoes Chopped

This is how the Italians do it. Very yummy.

In North America locate your local supplier of Toffutti cheese - if not sure, see if the local Jewish school/church runs a Kosher shop, as they most often stock it. In Britain see where you can buy Cheezly. The Mozzarella type melts but cook the pizza first then put the cheese on in the last 10 minutes.
Otherwise, cook it without "cheese" and use some crumbled tofu (the firm type) which you can buy fresh from Asian markets. Some soy cheeses use milk by-products such as lactose, lactic acid or casein so check with the supplier and determine if they use plant or animal sourcced products.
Speaking of which, the FDA declared that sodium caseinate (used in "dairy-free" beverage whiteners) was so far removed chemically from milk casein that it was no longer "dairy" - but it still came from a cow who each year loses her male calves to slaughter!

The same thing that Lactose intolerant people use. They make soy milk cheese.

Vegan "cheese" is just really not that delicious. I recommend just going without the cheese and topping the pizza with lots of veggies.

I am not a vegan but I am lactose intolerant:
here is my pizza:
Good extra virgin olive oil, chopped garlic, Italian seasoning blend (basil, oregano) red onions, artichoke hearts, roma tomatoes, black olives, pineapple chunks.
I use store bought crust. brush your pizza crust with olive oil instead of tomato sauce. Bake at 375. for 10-12 minutes

There is such thing as "Vetetarian Cheese" that isn't my personal favorite but it's reasonable.

You see" Vegetarian cheese" is cheese that is not curdled with
rennet, an enzyme that occurs naturally in animal stomachs.
Most vegetarian cheeses are curdled with either plants,
fungi, or bacteria.

Vegetarians who do not consume cheese with rennet
generally choose not to because it involves slaughtering
animals to extract the enzymes.

Vegetarian cheese is hard to distinguish from cheese made
with rennet. This lack of distinguisability often forces
vegetarians who are ethically-opposed to harming animals
to consume cheeses that contain rennet.

Even though more cheeses are being made with vegetable
rennet, it is usually impossible to spot the difference,
unless the package is clearly labeled "vegetarian cheese."
Recently, some grocery stores have started doing this
to aid vegetarian shoppers, who would not otherwise be
able to distinguish the difference between the vegetable
and animal rennet cheeses.

In addition to eating cheeses made with vegetable rennet,
there are more alternatives to eating regular cheese.

Vegans, for instance, do not consume cheese at all because
it is an animal byproduct and subsequently requires animals
to be caged and suffer. Many vegans, however, do
consume cheese substitutes.

Chreese (www.chreese.com) is one of these substitutes.
Chreese is an all natural, non-soy, cheese replacement
that requires substantially less natural resources
and energy to create than cheese with rennet.

And chreese is just one substitute. There are a number
of other all natural alternatives you can find
at local organic and health food stores.

If you are a vegetarian and you don't support animal
suffering on your behalf in any capacity, you may
also want to consider adjusting your dietary habits
if you consume cheese made with animal rennet.

To reiterate, you have three basic options: you can
look for grocery stores that label vegetarian cheese;
you can purchase vegetarian cheese online; or you can
purchase cheese alternatives online or at your local
organic or health food store.

No cheese needed. You'll be surprised how much you DON'T miss it. Make a good vegan marinara and top it with lots of veggies, it will be delicious.

Don't use cheese load up on veggies instead.

...if its a vegetarian pizza you can use cheese! but if its a vegan maybe try somehting else maybe you could use tofu...!lol

You can eat cheese if you are vegeatarian.but if you have some problem then add too much butter it will taste the same.

if you are vegeterian you can eat cheese but if youare vegan i dont know
