Why are people making such a big deal about the Michael Vick story?

I mean he just killed some dogs, that's it. They're just animals and I don't value animals, I value human life. For God's sake, they're treating him worse than a murderer. Just leave the guy alone, he's alright in my book.

I don't love animals, I just love the way they taste.

It's a felony in 48 states to mistreat an animal. This includes not giving the animal food, water, proper shelter, and physically hurting the animal. It's a misdimeanour in 2 states to mistreat an animal. It is a felony or misdimeanour for every time you mistreat an animal. So everyone of those dogs is another felony in his case. Not to mention the other charges.

It is not required that anyone own an animal. Remember that. If your not going to treat it right don't get one. You have a choice.

Obviously certain lawmakers in 48 states see this as a serious offense. Just because you don't value animals at all doesn't mean that other people don't.

He deserves everything he gets and more. If it were you you would have about 14 felonies for the dogs alone. If you did this you wouldn't get let off easy because you are not a celebrity. You would be in serious trouble to say the least. If you did the same crime and you got in more trouble than he did simply because he's a celebrity and your not would you not be highly pissed?
That's the big deal with this.

These were domesticated animals tortured and abused beyond limits society would ever tolerate for human beings, and dogfighting was illegal long before he ever did it. That's why he's going to federal prison. Never forget, many of our imprisoned killers killed and tortured animals before going on to human beings, the ones you value so highly.
You do value animals if you eat them. The person that you are, I suggest you eat all of your animals completely raw. You need serious psychological health. If you were so concerned for human lives then you would be equally concerned with animal lives because animal abuse and abuse towards humans go hand in hand. Personally all I have for you and anyone like you is apathy.

He and you have a total disrespect for LIFE. A life is a life in my opinion, and I hope many others. What is the difference what form the life is. Its not the dogs' fault they were born dogs instead of humans. In any case, that doesn't really matter because animals and humans are made in the SAME way. We all have feelings, emotions, and nerve endings. Whether he drowns a dog or you, you'll both feel it the same way. What is the difference? And he IS a murderer. MURDER IS TAKING A LIFE.
