How do you become a vegetarian with out people getting upset?? |
I still live with my mom because im not 18 yet, and i cant stand eating meat. how can i stop eating meat without hergetting upset? You don't. Eating meat (just like your vegetables) is good for you. In moderation we need meat because of the protein, there are other roots to protein but eating meat is just a fact of life, that is our position on the food chain. Even though I am not a vegetarian, I would say do what Carrie Underwood did - offer to do your own cooking. And then you can sort of train yourself on how to cook vegetarian meals that you like. Also offer them to your mom, and maybe she can become a bit of a vegetarian, which would probably be good for her, too. I know how you feel but don't let that stop you because that is your decision. Ever since i became a vegetarian my parents keep telling me that i will die die if i don't eat meat or they ask why i decided to become a vegetarian. I get so many dumb questions and concerns from people...sigh. dont i hate vegetarians!!! eat meat and have fun stop being a healthy freak Hmmm. How about you forget how SHE'LL feel. It's your choice. There are plenty of ways to be healthy without eating meat. If she doesn't support your decision, that's okay. Just forgive her, and don't change your mind. Just talk to her. Tell her that you hate eating meat. Tell her why (you hate the mistreatment of animals, you don't like the taste, you think vegetarians are more healthy, whatever) Tell her that you don't expect her to cater to your needs, and if she makes something with meat in it for dinner, you'll either just eat the non-meat dishes, or make yourself something. Just ask her to accept you and you might want to throw in something like "Well at least I'm not a meth addict mom! I'm a vegetable addict! You should be thankful!" I mean, I'm not a vegetarian, but I certainly think people should be if they want to be. Talk to her in what you believe in and don't upset or criticize if ppl don't do what you do. she shouldnt get upset....its your choice, period stop caring about what others think, You were made as an omnivore. You are supposed to eat meat and vegetation. just ask her not to cook you any more meat who cares if she is upset...as long as you don;'t try to ***** at her about what she eats or make her cook special food for you. Just become one. Don't worry about your mom getting upset. You have chosen to become one for your own reasons (I hope). You mom and other family members & friends will just have to deal with it. I'm sure your mother can accomidate to your needs. If you have a job go buy your own food if she won't support you. She should support you...she is your mother. Good luck and don't worry about it. eat meat its good for u f*** the animals i love to eat em If you cook your own meals that might help a little.. don't make her cook 2 different menu's. Just tell her your goign to try it for a month and and then tell her how greatyou feel. Don't ask her to do more cooking bc you changed your lifestyle, that might make her upset. Just don't do it. Don't come right out and say your a vegetarian. When ever someone asks you why your not eating meat just say you don't like it. Why should you eat what you don't like? They wouldn't eat any veggies they didn't like. I'm almost the same way. I don't really like meat. It just doesn't taste good to me. If you don't want to eat meat, just don't. Why would your mom get mad? There are other ways to get the same nutritional value. My daughter, when she was 9 yrs. old told me that she was not going to eat anything with a face. I did a little dietary research, and adjusted our family menu to include everyone's preference. She grew up healthy and smart, and has 2 beautiful sons of her own! You're 17 and capable of making that decision. Just tell her how you feel. You shouldn't try to oppress your beliefs on her. . . but she should respect your feelings enough to let you choose for yourself Remind her much money she'll save on her grocery bill. Meats are very expensive. Why would a mother get upset because her daughter wishes to make healthier choices? Does she take it personally and think you don't like HER food? Talk to her canadidly about this. That doesent make any sense. Your life, your choice, just tell her. It shouldn't be that big of a deal to her, just tell her that veges are cheaper than meat anyway since she is probably still buying the groceries. Why should she care? well you like what you like no one can force you to eat what you dont like!!!!! Do your research. Make sure you know how to address her concerns. Most meat eaters wonder how vegetarians get enough protein, so make sure that YOU know how you will get it (it's easy and a silly concern, but you'll probably have to address it.) If you can demonstrate that you know enough about nutrition to keep yourself healthy and you offer to assist with the cooking so that she doesn't feel like she's going to have to prepare two meals, then she shouldn't get upset at all. i know the feeling! im 16 and went vegan a few years ago. i dont have any advice for you cuz i just did it, and my mom hated it, she finally got used to it after a few years. she still doesnt understand but she dosent fight with me now. I had the same issue when I stopped eating meat. my parents were supportive... but i had to deal with everyone else turning their noses up at me. If you want to do it, you just do and not worry what others think. just be honest and tell her you don't want any meat, when she offers it to you say no thank you. Just tell her how you feel about eating meat and she shouldn't care! Good Luck! F*@k what everybody else thinks you are doing this for you and your life style. You want to live for you and not everybody else it's your life. |
