When having company over, what do you serve your meat eating guests?

I'll usually make up veggie chili, veggie pasta, mac and cheese or lasagna, etc. Sometimes we will order pizza and some with meat, but I don't cook meat for guests.

I generally try to serve meals that naturally do not have meat in them, but are things that meat eaters still order in restaurants: Eggplant Parmesan, Spinach Lasagna, Spinach and Mushroom Quesadillas, or Ratatouille.

I generally will cater for who I am having as guests. I think it works both ways. I certainly do not feel it is right to demand they provide specially prepared vegetarian food for me when I am their guest in their homes if I am not willing to make the effort to prepare meat for them.

Using fake meats does not work and it can be offensive. I think it is something of an urban myth where the carnivorous eater is served up TVP and doesn't even know what they have eaten until the self righteous vegetarian tells them it wasn't meat. If fakes meats were indistinguishable from real meat, then I would say there would be a whole lot fewer meat eaters in the world. The truth is most people (in the Western world) eat meat and enjoy it.

My friends understand this and it works well. In the context of socializing with other people, those who make it hard on others with special demands or perculiarities tend not to be much appreciated and for good reason.

entre茅 = Bruschetta (roasted ciabatta bread with a tomatie/onion mix & olive oil)

soup = spicy carrotsoup with coconutmilk

main dish = Leek & garlic pasta, onions simmered in redwine on wholegrain toast

dessert = exotic fruitsalad (asian fruits or tropical) OR german cheesecake

closer = cheese and grapes

that are all veggie friendly meals that most of your guest will find classy even though they are meatless and easy to make :D

There's no reason why you can't serve them vegetarian food. It's such bull when meat eaters say they "can't" eat vegetarian food. EVERYONE can eat vegetarian food, not everyone can eat meat. Make them something with fake meat and see if they notice!

i serve them whatever i'm having. i don't want to go through the process of cooking meat..i find it really disgusting, and everyone is satisfied with what i make them. it's really filling, healthy and delicious usually.

Well I avoid tofu and fake meat products because those are usually "shunned" by meat eaters, but there is no reason you cannot serve a vegetarian meal! Pasta works very well- try with a mixed veggie salad!

A nice, big, juicy, well marinaded 'T' bone steak with chips, peas, fried mushrooms, fried onions & a good mustard!

I usually serve a baked turkey or a ham.
