How hard is it to live on just fruits and veggies.?

How hard is it to live on just fruits and veggies. Will I get weak or feel lightheaded or anything without the consumption of grains. I did one time but I think it had to do with me not having enough calories.

I know you can survive on juice for a long time but that is partly because your digestive track shuts down.

i agree with the other posters......grains are the group needed most and recommended to be the largest portion of a person's diet. here is a link to the vegetarian food pyramid....it is a good reference for healthy eating.

there is also a link at the top of the page to the vegan food pyramid.

you may want to speak with a nutritionist to get more information on why your body needs certain nutrients that are not found in fruits and vegetables (at least not in large enough quantities to sustain you). if you choose to give up everything except fruits and veggies i guarantee that you will quickly become sick and emaciated. stick to a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet instead and watch your health thrive!

I think you just need to do a lot of research in every vegetable and fruits. You need to know the calories, vitamins, minerals, etc content of every fruit and vegetable and then you can mix it so you need to get the correct calories and nutrients that you need. By the way, soy has protein.

why no grains? thats like the key to being a healthy vegan. try eating nuts or a train mix for snacks, or anytime you feel faint. and since your diet is so wonderful, east whenever you feel like it. you want an apple go for it! try some higher cal veggies... butternut squash, yams, potatoes, and cashew, almonds and any other nut.

You won't thrive. There is no protien in fruits and veges and without the protien your body will not function well. After a period of time you will become weaker and tireder as your body starts to use your muscles and organs for protien.

I wouldn't know. Most vegetarians live on a lot more than fruits and veggies. You would have to almost starve yourself not to get enough calories.

You cant be healthy eating only fruit and veggies, You need protein. a healthy diet is a balanced one.

I would not try a no grain diet at all. Our bodies need more grains than any other food group!

you need meat for electrical energy. Some say you can do it... they already lost part of their mind...
