Is it possible to cut pork and milk products out of my diet and still be healthy?

Drinking milk kind of grosses me out for some reason, so I don't drink it. (I still take vitamin D from a pill) I still eat eggs, too. And also I don't eat pork. It's kind of bad for you. I eat vegtables (sp?) and fruits all the time. And bcuz I don't drink milk, I drink water w/ my lunch @ school, and sometimes I'll also drink it w/ my breakfast. I walk around the block a couple times a week during the spring and summer, and during the fall and winter I pretty much rely (sp?) on gym class for my exercise since it gets really cold in the winter where I live. What foods do I have 2 cut out of my diet so I can stick to this? (the only thing I can think of that has milk in that I'll eat is probably like Pop-Tarts, and I hardly ever eat those). And also, what kind of exercises can I do indoors during the winter?

Yes it is definitely possible! You could be a semi-vegetarian with cutting pork out and use soy-milk instead of cow's milk. You can do exercises like crunches,sit-ups,push ups, squats, pilates, and etc.

Yes it is heathy if you take vitimens for protine and calciem.

pork is the filtiest meat you can eat. And most dangerous...if it is not cooked well you could get tricinosis and become very ill. Stay away from the pork (ham, salami, pepperoni, sausage, bacon, etc.). Eat lots of chicken and red meat (beef or lamb). Those meats are very high in protein. Eat fish once a week for protein as well as omega 3 oils (very good for brain development and for skin health). If you want to stay HEALTHY, the key isn't to DIET...the key is to EAT WELL and do regular exercise. My recommendation:

Eat chicken, beef, fish all week along with lots of friuits and veggies. Try not to eat too much fried stuff. If you do this along with at least 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week, you will grow to be a very healthy, and very fit person. A mulit-vitamin once a day is also a great source of the vitamins and minerals that your body needs. If you can't drink milk, then drink lots of orange juice because it is also high in calcium. Indoor exercises that are great are situps/crunches, pushups, wall squats, jump rope.

PORK (or any red meat) IS NOT NECESSARY FOR GOOD HEALTH

You should eat lots of beans and nuts for iron. You should replace the calcium in dairy with calcium from soymilk, tofu, broccoli, sesame seeds or okra.

yes.

yes you can still be healthy. you can still eat things like yogurt, cheese and evevn take calcium supplements, because us women need out calcium. you don't need pork really, or meats, as long as you still consume other meat products like fish or supplements. vegetarians are healthy.

as for indoor exercises, you could do step ups, sit ups, weights, with milk jugs or water since you don't drink milk, pr marching in one spot. rent an exercise vid and see what they do.

You can get most of your vitamin D from the sun. Foods are only fortified with it and I know there is an orange juice fortified with it and so are most cereals. Eggs have it too so I highly doubt you need pills. Human beings are not meant to drink the milk from another animal anyway.

It is perfectly fine to cut out milk and pork from your diet. It is important to eat nutritionally sound items. I have been a vegetarian for 10 years. VIsit www.peta.org for more indepth information. I purchased Slim-in-6 (beachbody.com) and also I have Windsor Pilates. I use these DVD's in the winter.

Of course you can still be healthy without those products. There's not nothing beneficial that's exclusive to pork and milk that you can't get from somewhere else. It's easy if you break things down into their essential componants of what the benefits are. That's what you're looking for in replacing those foods in your diet.

Judging by what you've written, it seems like you would enjoy doing pilates. And if you stick with it, I think you'll really like the results!

Good Luck!

Pork definitely isn't good for you. Even if you don't want to be a vegetarian, cutting out pork is a great idea.

Dairy foods are nutritious, but I can understand why milk grosses you out--I used to feel that way, too. Eat plenty of dark green vegetables for calcium, and try drinking calcium-fortified orange juice. The vitamin D tablets sound like a good idea; you can also get vitamin D from sunlight and fortified cereals.
