What can i make for christmas dinner instead of meat? |
I'm vegetarian and sick of having just roasted vegies for dinner on christmas,iv'e seen some soy chickens at a place in the city but the thing is i'm moving to a town before christmas so i can't buy one! is there any thing i can make? Try some of these: http://www.veganfamily.co.uk/yule.html tofu....takes on the flavor of whatever you cook. u can use that or.. make a dish out of portabella mushrooms..and marinated.. artichoke hearts. ingredients..mix red onion..green peppers ..red peppers and yellow/orange ...peppers ...and get some ginger root and other seasonings.such as cilantro.. cut up peppers and onions... put in some ginger and stir fry with olive oil, set aside. cut up mushrooms.. and put in wok with marinated artichokes.. make sure you drain..off some of water. AS it cooks. then add the mixture you set aside... put on low to medium to heat covered. get angel hair pasta..and parmasean cheese. cook pasta..and drain.. grate parmasean on a plate of drizzled olive oil... put pasta on top and then put the cooked mushrooms etc on top.and grate more parmesean if you want. get italian bread. becuz you are vegan you can omit the cheese..she says/ she is on phone with me now... at an airport waiting for a plane..so this is a very special recipe. lol i am trying to hear over airport noise,. good luck www.vegweb.com has some nice recipes for holidays. You're sure to find one that looks good. Robin Robertson's "The Vegetarian Meat and Potatoes Cookbook" also has really hearty recipes that would be suitable for a holiday dinner. Pasta.... tons of vegetarian recipes on the web Make either meatless lasagna or Greek Moussaka! lasanya I had a wonderful Vegan thanksgiving with Bryanna's recipes. I made a seitan roulade - I stuffed mine with wild rice, cranberries and walnuts. Here are the recipes. Enjoy, and Namaste! Bean casserole I'd say a good bean soup with bread, seasonal nuts, or some sauteed veggies over a reasted accorn squash. make a pasta dish, like spegetti or lasagna or alfredo...thats always good! try beef (not soy beef) but beef or turkey are the best(god put them here for a reason so im eat them untell i die) See if you have a Trader Joe's or a Whole Foods within driving distance of your home; it'd be great if you could purchase a Tofurky roast (it's very similiar in appearance and texture to turkey, and tastes very good)... you could just pop it into a baking dish with diced potatoes and onions and bake it, and glaze it 10 minutes before it's time to take it out of the oven. You can also order Tofurky online... that's a very quick and easy solution. How about one of these? Hmmm.... have you ever been to an indian restaurant or something? you should try some of those |
