Is there a difference in the amount of calcium and protein in cow's milk and soy milk? |
I would like to switch to soy milk but I would like to know the nutritional differences before I make the change. Read the side panel. soy milk doesn't naturally occur with calcium, therefore, calcium present in soy milk is up to the manufacturer. Most soy milk is fortified with calcium, but how much varies. Cow's milk gives about 30% calcium an adult needs in 1 glass, so you should just check nutrition labels. Cow's milk has 8g of protein in a serving. Soy milk contains 7g. They both have the same amount of protein and calcium but the calcium in soy milk is added instead of naturally occuring. You have to really shake up the milk before drinking it to get the calcium dispersed. |
