How can I get more veggie members?

I want more veg*ns to join our animal rights group. How can I get more members? What are some good ways to reach people? I thought about running an add in the local newspaper.

A website is a good idea. I think I could run an add in the local newspaper, but I don't even know what to say in my add.

I don't think you are actually old enough to have a valid opinion, judging by your continued diatribes.

So, for a start up, give me the legal references and case laws in reference to these 'animal rights' you keep waffling on about.

Or are you referring to Human rights being applied to animals?

Quite a different thing you know.

ADDITIONAL

Ashley, you can't have a reference for a law that does not exist.

Nobody to date has actually taken a case through the law courts so your request is spurrious.

The only exceptions are the various Animal Welfare Acts which provide for the following:

It makes owners and keepers responsible for ensuring that the welfare needs of their animals are met.

These include the need:

1. For a suitable environment (place to live)
2. For a suitable diet
3. To exhibit normal behaviour patterns
4. To be housed with, or apart from, other animals (if applicable)
5. To be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease

The new law also increases to 16 the minimum age at which a person can buy an animal and prohibits giving animals as prizes to unaccompanied children under this age.

Section 1. (a) This Act may be cited as the "Animal Welfare Act".

(b) The Congress finds that animals and activities which are regulated under this Act are either in interstate or foreign commerce or substantially affect such commerce or the free flow thereof, and that regulation of animals and activities as provided in this Act is necessary to prevent and eliminate burdens upon such commerce and to effectively regulate such commerce, in order--

(1) to insure that animals intended for use in research facilities or for exhibition purposes or for use as pets are provided humane care and treatment;

(2) to assure the humane treatment of animals during transportation in commerce; and

(3) to protect the owners of animals from the theft of their animals by preventing the sale or use of animals which have been stolen.

There are hundreds of similar sites, look for yourself.

Incidentally, some of the actions you admit to taking ARE illegal and you can be fined and jailed for the privaledge.

Oh, FOR GOD SAKE give it a rest, you even got the difference between VEGAN & Vegatarian wrong.

The way you accuse people of being "racist" for eating meat YOU are driving people away, and alienating the decent majority of ALL people.

PS. What would you do with all the 'meat-eaters'?

I would run an add. Be completely honest about what your group stands for.
Unfortunately a strict vegan is hard to find. Maybe if you broaden the group to a vegetarian and vegan group!

All your rantings have actually driven people from your cause rather than to it. I doubt if anyone could meet your strict standards anyway.
So lets say I was a vegan and fitted the criteria, what kind of activities could I look forward to if I joined your group?
I hope you arent trying to recruit people with a view to commiting criminal acts.
Harrassment, criminal damage, breaking and entering, theft grave robbing. All activities that 'animal rights' activists have been responsible for in recent times.
Let me ask you a question. How would you feel if, for example, your group freed a few cows from a slaughter house and allowed them to roam free. Imagine if they roamed onto a road and caused an accident in which human lives were lost?

Try a frontal lobe lobotomy, sorry that is too good for your ilk.

To "ViciousDreamer" if the asker accuses any one who eats meat of being the equivalent of Slavers and racist then it is going to get slated, whether it considers it abuse or not.
If it doesn't like it, tough, don't make such idiotic sweeping statements.

amen , sister! give the animals a voice !!!
we must stop the abuse!!!
p.s, i wanna join your group!!!

I think it is nice that you are reaching out to other members of the community on projects you are involved with. In the past when I was looking to recruit members from differing communities for different things, I went to local group meetings, contacted websites, talked to my friends, put up signs etc. So I guess those are my ideas.

You could run an add in the newspaper, something in the community notices section (often free) saying that (name of group) is holding regular meetings for the purpose of animal rights and would like to welcome people to contact x and join the group. Best of luck

i would put in add in the paper and just say how much this means to you and the ppl in it already and what they could do to help the animals and all go to peta2.com and find some stuff

I'd like to know what's up with all the lame a/s/s people bashing you on here?!?!
If you're not vegetarian or vegan then wtf are you doing in the VEGETARIAN AND VEGAN section you idiots? I highly doubt that anyone cares about your ignorant opinions,I sure as hell don't. If you don't have something useful to say,you might as well keep your mouth shut.

Anywho...I really commend you for dealing with all of the idiots on here so well!! Obviouslly eating meat screws up your brain!

I agree that myspace is probably the best way to reach people, pretty much everyone is on myspace now-a-days. An add in the paper would only reach the people that read the paper on that specific day,AND costs money:-X
If you're talking about a *local* animal rights group, you could put up flyers in places that veggies frequent, like health food stores,gyms,colleges,etc...

OK, now to play Devil's Advocate...

"Animal Rights Protesters" need to volunteer for the cosmetic and drug testing on animals they are protesting against.

Round here, they took "direct action" on a mink farm, by releasing them. The mink have killed all the indigenous wildlife nearby. So, release one animal, it kills 50. How does that work?

Hmmmmmm. "Res" has a geat idea. Ashley may be a very skilled troll who wants to be over-the-top to show the folly of the obsessing vegan. It all seems to fit because if Ashley was for real, I mean, honest and truly, she would be avoided like the plague.

LMAO>>>>>>>>

You are actually driving people away from your cause,,, but me thinks this is what you want.........

check the history guys please

start a myspace page for your org

ohhh how can i join,
do you have a vegetarian one?

Advertising is always a good idea. I used to go on animal rights rallies in the 80's. I still have whip marks to prove it from when we tried to stop some fox hunting going on in the local woods near where I used to live. To advertise anything never come across as been an extremist just advertise for like minded people to join.

if you have a myspace or friendster, etc. you can use it to spread the word on there.

Get a website & advertise it with an ad in the paper
see if you can do a radio ad too
post an ad see if the manager does at the fastfood places you go...smoothie bars & coffee houses too etc. go to the places you hang out & see if any other vegans are there.

I'm not vegan & will never be & i wont get into that causing tension, but i wish you luck

Get a web site
