What difference does it make if I puree fruits/veg during a juice fast?

What difference does it make if I throw carrots in a juicer, as opposed to just eating them raw? Don't they basically end up the same way in my stomach?
I want to do a juice fast.

Carrots eaten raw do not provide as much nutrients as when pureed in a blender, or juiced and the pulp added back to the juice. Most people do not masticate raw vegetables well enough for full nutrient extraction. Your digestive system simply cannot break down all the cells of raw vegetables unless it is well masticated or pureed before consumption. Although the pulp has very little nutrient value, it is high in insoluble fibers. Fibers, both soluble and in soluble, aid in the peristaltic movement of food thru the digestive system. The insoluble fibers can be thought of as the broom and the soluble fibers as a bench brush or whisk broom.

though you eat rice cooked you never eat raw rice even it is ending in same place

Juice Fasting(Feasting) Is done with JUICE ONLY. The Fiber slows down disgestion & the bodies use of the food. The goal is cleasning.

When you juice something, you get the liquids out. The solids remain behind, and they contain a great deal of what is good for you. Maybe the question should be whether you should go on a fruits and vegetables "fast" instead of a juice fast? Anyway, here is a great site on the subject, with loads of objective information: http://altmedicine.about.com/od/detoxcle...

You miss out on a lot of the fiber if you use a juicer. If you throw everything in a blender than it's the same.

The purpose of juice fasting is to give your system a break from digesting solids, like the fiber in whole/pureed fruits and vegetables. So if you want to do a juice fast then you need to juice not puree. But if you want to just do fruits and veggies, then of course pureeing the veg and fruits is fine, as is eating them whole. It just depends how strong (rapid) of a cleanse you want. What does your doctor think you need?

To the people concerned about nutrients, juice fasting is fine to do for a few days. It will help your body detox and cleanse, at an easier rate than total (water only) fasting. It truly doesn't hurt your body to go without protein, fiber, fat etc for just a few days.

As long as you keep the pulp along with the juice, there really is no difference, except you won't have to chew it! A spoonful of wheat germ and some protein powder will ensure you are getting some protein and carbs. Pureed fruits and vegetables allow your stomach to not work as hard to digest them as if you just ate them raw.

They do end up in your stomach it is true. However a fast of juice is not a fast of pureed fruit. It has to do with the amount of work the stomach does in digesting the juice, fairly little or the puree which is more. I am not an expert, but this is what I believe.

I don't like the idea of juice fasts because they deprive the body of the vitally important nutrient called PROTEIN. Just eat HEALTHFULLY and don't try to mess yourself up with diets. They key to healthy living is all-around healthy eating supplemented with the proper amount of exercise.

"Fasting" means depriving yourself of something essential. You can figure it out from that.

I don't know of any difference. Enjoy your juice!
