What are the vegan alternatives for candles?

What kind of candles do vegans use?
Obviously you can't use tallow or bees' wax.
Paraffin wax, maybe? Or are there some waxes from plant sources available?

Just curious.

There are soy and palm wax candles available. Paraffin is a petroleum byproduct, so technically vegan I guess, but definitely not as clean-burning as natural plant waxes.

You can get soy candles from www.findsoycandles.com
As for paraffin candles they are made from plant oils
usual sunflower or vegetable oil. It is sometimes used in making gum and lining milk cartons1 Report Abuse

Paraffin wax, no. Soy candles, yes. Check out this website and read the difference about soy and paraffin. www.scentsbyhardy.com Report Abuse

Usually vegans use soy candles.

We are not vegan (we are vegetarian) and we use beeswax candles and they burn clean and everything...but I have never used a soy candle before.

Fork Handles?

i know they sell soy candles in candle shops. They burn cleaner and have a stronger scent too. ooooh and they're cheaper

they sell them at target too

Lightbulbs??

Seriously, paraffin wax is the most common used here. soy candles are practically non existent as soy is almost 100% used for food not for such items as candles and stuff. In fact, bees wax is practically non existent nowadays here either.

depends what they doing with the candles i suppose but if they are using them for light thats cool cos then they aint killing any of the meat for these people to eat

soy parm wax
