What vitamins should a vegan take-suggestions for specific ones?

I know supplement b12 and stuff but what else..
what brands should I look for?

I heard that if ther are white spots on your finger nails you NEED dairy. Is that true to the point where dairy is a nesseity so Id need a vitamin?

None.

Unless you WANT to. There are none you "should" take.

Personally, I use rice and buckwheat protein powders daily(I weightlift and CHOOSE to, its not necessary), take a hair, skin, and nails supplement (which has a b complex, iodine, biotin and a couple other things in it), and i take an omega 3-6-9 oil a few times a week.

I take 'Vegan Multi vitamin & Mineral' from Holland & Barrett.

:-) Its not too expensive too!

EDIT- White spots on the nails could be a zinc deficiency, zinc is found in cheese and nuts. You could take a multivitamin and mineral that contains zinc. Zinc is a mineral, not a vitamin. :-)

none unless you are not getting enough of a particular vitamin from your diet. If you have been vegan for several years, then you can have a blood test to show serum B12 levels and if they are low (ie if you don't eat seaweed or use fortified soy milk etc) then you need to take a B12 supplement.

However if you have a balanced diet you will not be lacking in any other vitamin or mineral unless you have an enzyme deficiency and cannot obtain nutrients from your food efficiently. In such a case, you would not take vitamins but a liquid vegetable enzyme supplement to fix the problem (rather than treat the symptoms).

omega 3 is good.

To know whether you need certain tablets you need a blood test. This will tell you if you need iron tablets, calcium tablets... etc. Worked for me. Don't take tablets if you don't know you need them or not. This will off balance your body.

They definetly aren't required, but you can take a multivitamin like GNC's vegetarian formula and you could take a little bit of iron every once in a while, not too often, because too much iron isn't good.

A multivitamin is pretty much all you need, sometimes if I'm feeling tired I'll take some b12 before bed and wake up fine. That's pretty much it :)

Strong vit C and strong vit B,both time release and a strong multi vit/mineral supp.H&B have got vit C 1500mg at 70% off at the mo

I take Multi Vitamins

I would suggest Vitamin Meat.
