Does anyone know the nutritional value of sunflower seeds? |
I eat A LOT of sunflower seeds, and I was wondering what the pros & cons of eating so many are. I tried to look it up on the web, but didn't find much. Sunflower seeds are a great source of dietary fiber, protein, Vitamin E, magnesium, protein, and selenium. They also contain linoleic aic which is a neccessary fatty acid. Debra is right. They also keep you regular. http://www.nutnutrition.com/nutrition/su... Do you eat them with or without salt? Without salt, a little more than 3 and a half ounces contains 165 calories, 14.12 grams of total fat, 1.48 grams of saturated fat (the fat you should try to avoid), less than a gram of sodium, lots of potassium, 6.82 grams of carbs, 3.15 grams of fiber (seeds are generally a good source of fiber), and 5.48 grams of protein. It also contains folic acid, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. If you want to know the exact amounts, let me know. Also, the oil in the sunflower seeds are mostly polyunsaturated fat, which is ok to eat in small amounts since it won't affect your blood cholestrol. Just a quarter-cup of sunflower seeds contains 90.5% of the daily value for vitamin E I dont' know, but it makes good ruffage. |
