Why do grapes grow on a vine instead of a tree.?

I just want to know. Does anybody think it's because the sems are to weak to become a tree?

I have been to some really old vineyards and have seen some really THICK vines that were not as thin as many seem to think a vine is.

I think that they are the way that they are - because it is just another variety within the wonderful world that we live in.

Isn't is a wonder how everything is not all the same and the wonderful variety that we have within the world that we live in?

probably. but if you actually seen a grape vine it is actually quite woody. procees of evolution I guess.

A vine offers advantages; it is not as strong, but it means that the plant (without human intervention) can move over the ground more easily and find new sources of nourishment. Trees can't - they're stuck.

why do apples grow on trees instead of vines

It's just the way things are.
