How can I make soy protien powder taste better? |
I have a can of Spring Valley Vanilla Flavored Soy Protein. Frankly, I have yet to fnd anything I can mix it into that doesn't have a horrendous consistency. I would like to use it, but prefer no to gag on every bite of cereal (i have premixed it into a cup of skim milk then poured over cereal). I don't think it is OK to heat it. I've tried in coffee with the same results. I just cant seem to get it to blend well enough to get rid of that powdery yech! Edit - Well what i usually do is make a protien shake out of it. I get the vanilla flavored kind as well but sometimes i switch and use the chocolate kind too. I put a scoop of the powder in a blender with a cup of skim milk a banana (or any fruit u want) and some ice. It tastes really yummy and not all powdery...but u have to make sure to blend it long enough. Soya things aren't very nice when they're on their own so I sometimes mix sauce into it and if its like soya mince I sometimes have spaghetti bolognese which is really nice btw. Why not just drink soy milk? Well, to each their own I guess. Try baking with it! A whole fruit smoothie....Just mix frozen organic fruit (strawberries work the best) with a little unsweetened soy milk and a few ice cubes in your blender along with the soy protein. You can add lowfat yogurt if you like. If you're vegan use silk non-dairy yogurt. Blend it all together and you have a delicious smoothie, healthy and you won't taste the soy powder. Maybe you need to upgrade your protein powder. Try using a complete powder like soy, rice, pea, and hemp. I use Interative Nutrition Vegetarian protein powder and I love it. I blend it in a blender with berries and a combination of soy and rice milk. I sweeten it up with Stevia and it tastes awesome. It blends very well. Why not use vanilla soymilk? I use Silk Light soymilk an it's great on cereal. I use silk creamer in coffee though. I saw "flavor your own medicine" at Walmart last night. It's made to flavor those absolutely horrible medications without having to pay the extra fee at the pharmacy. I don't know if this would help in your situation but it's just my suggestion. I don't know if you can make the soy taste any better, maybe try mixing it with flavored milk? chocolate syrup you need a blender and ice.. its doesnt mix well without a blender. Make a smoothy bannanas , strawberries cinnamon , nutmeg, ginger, peanut butter cup of coffee, yogurt, brewers yeast, wheatgerm , spiralina, any fruit you like. add some or all of the above thats impossible use sweet soy soak it in lots of melted butter and crumble up some bacon on it andthen put it on a cheesey english muffin with poached egg on top. Put it in a smoothie. It tastes great! |
