Is it possible to be a fat vegetarian?

I am watching Big Brother and she announced that she is a veggie!

I always thought that veggies very very very slim!

Could someone enlighten me?

Cows are Vegetarian.. Look how big they get..

Definately.
Though you may not eat meat, you can still overeat vegetarian portions, causing you to be obese.

There are some people who's daily medications cause them to gain weight, regardless of 'vegetarian/non vegetarian' status.

So, to answer your question, yes, it's possible.

Absolutely, I could stand to lose a few pounds.

Well actually, just because your vegetarian, it doesn't mean you eat healthy. =]

when you first start yes but once you done it for a while you will get slim i am I've been a veggie for a year and now I'm a skinny stick!!!

YES

There are indeed chubby vegans! I'm one.

Not all vegetarians have an ideal diet. Fried foods and certain junk foods can be vegetarian.

She's probably a lacto-ovo "vegetarian". Here's food that fits the category that can make a person fat:
French fries
Potato Chips
Fried foods: nachos, tacos
High fat dips, cheeses
Oreos and milk
Pizza

The list can go on forever. Just like there are thin omnivores, there are many fat "vegetarians".

even if you're a vegetarian, unless you watch what you eat and exercise you will end up gaining weight...

Just think how big a cow gets eating grass!!

Yes...you can still over heat and taken in more calories than you burn even when eating healthy. You will still gain wait if you don't burn the amount or more you are intaking in calories.

I've seen some big pumpkins in my time believe me

There are tons of junk food that are vegetarian friendly so if someone eats alot of it and does no exercise, they could get fat. Vegetarian means no animal flesh, not no junk food.

*Holds up hands* I'm fat and I'm a veggie...

It's the chocolate.

Vegetarians that eat many types of beans and nuts can be fat

Of course it is. You don't get fat just by eating meat. You get fat by eating too much.
Being a vegetarian doesn't mean that all you eat is vegetables. Theres bread, cakes, biscuits...
And yes you can even get fat if you eat too many vegetables.

Yeah...I've met someone who has been vegetarian all his life(his parents were vegetarians, too) and now as an adult he's obese. Too many carbs and oil, I guess?

yeah... ive even seen chubby vegans.... who'd 'ave thunk it!

Yup, they can still overeat.

its possible... being a vegetarian doesnt mean that they only eat veggies... it only means that they dont eat meat.... so they could eat all junk food and be fat, but eat no meat.... or she could have gained a lot of weight and then become a vegetarian...

I'm a veggie but I'm far from skinny.

Take it from me, it is possible!

yes.. sorry to say this but

calories are calories no matter where they come from.

:D

it is possible, over-eating anything can cause weight gain..even the some healthy stuff like whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, bread, nut butters, nuts, etc are high in calories and heart-healthy fats but if eaten TOO much of them it can make anyone fat!
and pluss check out this list of vegan snacks and keep in mind that there is wayyy more out there than what's in this list..http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/Ve...

My brother eats no meat but he eats sugar, pasta and chips. He is overweight. It is very possible.
It comes from the sugar/carbs and the amount of food you eat.

yeee of course you can,
i have a friend who's been a veggie since she was 3 and shes like, biiiig. just cause you dont eat meat doesnt mean you cant eat fatty food, like fries, and .. other deep fried stuff, and junk. you can defo be fat if you're a veggie.

she probably eats 23hrs aday..thats about .5 of a ton of cabbage

Of course! Vegetarians don't eat meat, but they CAN and mostly DO eat other junk food. Although I do get your point somewhat, a lot of veggies tend to be conscious of what they eat, etc.
Someone told me she fills up on meat 'alternatives', which aren't exactly healthy, and in my opinion, make her a bad vegetarian.

well for starters, the biggest whale on earth is a vegetarian. It depends how MUCH you eat, apart from WHAT you eat. If you garnish your salad with olive oil, it is still vegetarian but god knows the calories in that one! and fruit can be quite sugary too.

It makes them easier to kick
