When on a vegan diet, do you need to count calories to loose weight?

I heard that vegans stay naturally thin without counting calories because they dont have lots of tokins or bad foods (cause most non animal product foods are healthy).

So, if Im trying to loose weight on a vegan diet, do I really need to count calories? (If so, how many should I have daily?)

Thanks :]

PS) *Im not going vegan strictly too loose weight, Im going for animal rights and general health reasons, weight loss is just an added bonus!

Yes, you still need to count calories. There's plenty of ways to be vegan and still consume empty calories, and even too much of a good thing can make you gain weight. The good news is that if you're eating vegetables, it'll take a lot more food to get up to your daily calorie quota than if you were eating meat and dairy, so you'll be able to eat more and still lose weight.

You should look up how many calories you need based on your gender, height, weight, activity level, and how much you want to lose.

Here's a link to the Mayo Clinic's calorie calculator:

Hope that helps!

I've said it 1,000,000 times before: veganism is not a weight loss diet.

Look, losing weight is simple math: burn more calories than you consume. For the purposes of losing weight, it doesn't matter what those calories are made up of. You can still eat a lot of calories worth of healthy foods, and not all vegan foods are healthy (hello, potato chips...)

Nobody has to *count* calories to lose weight, but they do have to come up with some way of consuming fewer calories or burning more calories. Vegans (who are not all naturally thin by a LONG SHOT) included.

veganism isnt麓s a way to live just to loose weight. but it麓s true that most vegans are pretty good with their weight, but you could eat potatoe chips and avocado and vega cakes all day and totaly be an obese vegan, but most of us don麓t do that! you could cound calories, but it麓s not the easyest thing to do when you eat a whole foods, not pacaged food diet. just know what foods have the least amount of calories and depend on those to fill up your belly, and exersise a lot. but you might wanna check out calories of fruits and vegetables online(l麓m sure there麓s a website for that) if you really want to.
