What are the health benefits of radishes? |
You never hear anyone say, "Eat your radishes." Are they even healthy? Health Benefits: Radishes are moderately high in Vitamin C and contain properties that appear to be beneficial for symptoms of colds, flu, fever, cough, respiratory problems, and digestive disorders. For digestive problems, put a handful of radish leaves in boiling water, cover, and let sit for about 20 minutes. Strain, add honey to taste and drink as a tea. For colds, flu, and the associated symptoms, grate one radish and mix with honey to taste. Let this mixture stand for 10 hours in a dark place. Take 2 teaspoons three times a day as a cough syrup. not much health benefit except they have a lot of water in them and no calories Not really they can contain a rather alarming sort of arsenic content. Seems the little buggers like to soak up the toxic stuff Good for filling you up, not much else. Some Vitamin C but there are far better sources of the vitamin out there. Macrobiotics pegs them as a blood cleanser, tonic, and an aid in digesting fat. They are usually talking about the daikon which is a long white radish that it more mild than the little pink ones that we see at the supermarket. |
