How can I be a healthy vegetarian? |
I want to be a vegetarian. My mom says its unhealthy and I wanna show her how healthy it can be. Any suggestions for healthy veggie foods to where I won't be mal-nutriousened? trust me sister, your mom is just moming you. being a vegetarinan is very simple actualy. your mom is probbaly freeking because she thinks that proteen and iron (that are esencial for the human body) only come form meat. and with out them you can become week or anamic( condition caused by lack of iron) but she is totaly wrong in thinking that these two things only come from meat. there is actualy alot of Iron and proteen in other things that we have in our every day diet. such as whole wheet bread, tofo, yogart, milk, eggs, spinich, nuts, beans cheese and other non-meat foods( it is importan to have some vitimin c with these to help the asorbe into the body). it is true as a vegetarian you do have to be more aware of your diet, but you don't even nessicarly need to take a muillity vitamin unless you are planing to be vegan.( be carful about those, some have dead animals in them like Omega 3 pills or birth control pills .) It is actual very healthy to be veg, you get rid of all the fat and presurivitives out of you diet and you just feel better. Do know that if you are onof those girls that are not acustomed to eating a health balanced diet, this could be hard to get used to. the only case where being veg could make you worse off is if you ate junk all day and then decided to cut out the hot dogs and just eat fries and shakes. see what i am getting at? and the best thing is you just feel good about your self. my mom was like this too win i started. good luck! Eat tofu. It is a huge replacement of meat and is very yummy. i eat it all the time. Well I know all about vegetarians because I am one myself. the way to stay healthy since your a vegetarian is to never eat meat and to replace the protein with nuts and fish which are excellant sources of protein. Without you can become very weak and flimsy. Personally, I think vegetarians are better off in life. I've been a vegetarian all my life & am perfectly healthy! Any dietician in the country will tell you that being veggie is just as healthy as a meat-based diet. Remember that all the animals we eat are vegetarian themselves so all the nutrients people think they're getting from meat are actually from the grass the animal ate! If you're vegetarian, you just cut out the need to kill an animal & you eat the nutrients directly yourself! your mom is misinformed and going by what they used to teach people in school. do some research, bring her evidence that vegetarians are fine. there's no problem with being healthy. take her to a vegetarian club or meeting so she can meet healthy vegetarians. bring her books and brochures to help her feel better. try to understand that is what they used to teach people in school but it's wrong. become an expert on nutrition yourself. simple answer- replace meat for tofu, lentils, beans. Eat lots of them. Eat lots of vegies and fruit, different colours. Make sure you still get enough dairy and eggs, in fact, eat more of these than you normally would. Take iron tablets during your "special time". Lentils, peas, beans and nuts all have various amino acids. You need to eat rice, beans, lentils, nuts, and milk cheese & eggs if you want to eat those things, to get all the amino acids you need. Lots of vegetables, not just salad, and fruits are necessary to get all the other nutrients you need. Beans and rice provide protein somewhat comparable to meat products. I would also consider eggs OK and fish. Salmon is loaded with nutrients. A lot of vegetarians don't seem to know what they are doing. I eat meat now and then, but you have to consider what is in it. People are carnivorous and even eat themselves just to survive. It does seem like veggies are a current novelty in-ting to profess there are several meats that you can eat...... Eat a balanced meal that includes meat, fish and eggs. Look at the billion Indians, perfectly healthy and most of them (all the Hindus) 100% veg, for thousands of years. No eggs, but lots of milk (& cheese), cereals (wheat, rice) nuts and beans (there you get the proteins) of all kinds. The idea is to be kind to all creatures and not make them suffer. So take tips from their delicious cuisine. Really good, spicy, easy to make. I spent 2 years there and got convinced. Been veg since. And of course, the many millions veggies worldwide. And we're not dying of malnutrition, you know... in fact we're healthier than the average American by far, no obesity, heart disease, you name it. Congrats, the best decision you'll ever make! 鈽?/div> you need to eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables to make up for the carbs and proteins that you need from meats |
