If you are a veggie, are you comfortable with eating mushrooms?

I have heard that they are actually animal rather than vegetable but I feel that so long as they don't have a face, they're okay to eat.

My second question is, has anyone ever seen a face on a mushroom?

They are from Kingdom - fungus. I have a hard time trying to imagine why they are set apart and why they they have a kingdom of their own in the classification tables. Apparently they are neither animal nor plant!!! I dont know which they are more like. I don't think they would be approved by the vegetarian society if they were sentient beings like animals !!! I still eat them. I have only seen faces on 'shrooms in Super Mario Bros!!!!

You can only see the face of a mushroom after smoking it. ;)

Has this question something to do with what they are commercially grown on ?? If so then i can understand your question from a certain view point. My sister who is veggie will not touch them for this reason.

Mushrooms are fungi, certainly not animal. Do you think that almost every vegetarian (apart from those who don't like mushrooms) would be eating them if they were animal? My answer to your second question is that I only buy mushrooms to eat.

yes they are not an animal

I think you've been at the magic mushrooms.

I understand mushrooms are fun guys!!!!!!! Thats the nearest to an animal i can think of!! Ha Ha Happy new year

Spuds don't have faces, but they do have eyes. Where do you stand on potatoes?
Eggs don't have faces, what about them?
...fish?

Yeah, get them eaten!

I once had mushrooms that I picked from the forest, after eating them I noticed that they were talking to me they are just like humans they ear and see everything that we do. I spoke for hours to a family of mushrooms it was very intresting to speak to them.

mushrooms are an entity to themselves, being neither vegetable nor animal, they are fungi. And no never seen a face on a mushroom but you can imagine anything you want even on a slice of bread! Just close your eyes and eat! Everything gets eaten or is eaten.

fungi are not animals and yes I eat them I have not eaten animals for years nor do I wear leather or any other animal products.

Its a FUNGUS
mushroom is an above-ground fruiting body (that is, a spore-producing structure) of a fungus, having a shaft and a cap. By extension, it designates the entire fungus producing the fruiting body of such appearance, the former consisting of a network (called the mycelium) of filaments or hyphae. In a much broader sense, mushroom is applied to any visible fungus, or especially the fruiting body of any fungus, with the mycelium usually being hidden under bark, ground, rotten wood, leaves, etc. The technical term for the spore-producing structure of "true" mushrooms is the basidiocarp. The term "toadstool" is used typically to designate a basidiocarp that is poisonous to eat.

Are you on Space cookies?

They are not animals. I am a vegetarian and I feel comfortable eating them in that respect, but I just watched an episode of "Dirty Jobs" about them and it made me sick to watch how they are grown. They are grown in hay from stables - soaked with urine and excrement. But I'm sure we eat worse, and also some fertilizers are the same. Sort of discouraging!

mushrooms are a fungus... they r not a plant or an animal and no i havent ever seen a face on a muchroom

There's not ' mushroom' in here but I'm a ' fungi' to be with !!

i love love mushrooms.

Im comfortable with eating them. No i have not seen a face on them. I do not categorise them as animals..

Mushrooms are fungi, not animals. That means they are living (like bacteria is living), but so is the lettuce you eat. Yogurt is bacteria. That is living. Plants are living too. There is certainly a difference, though, between plants and animals. So you should not feel funny about eating the mushrooms, they really aren't the same as animals. I have been a vegetarian for 5 years, and mushrooms are my favorite "vegetable". :)

Uh oh, does this mean they're going to have to stop doing animal testing on mushrooms??? = O

I've never heard the arguments concerning mushrooms being animals. Although I rarely eat mushrooms as it is, I suppose if there becomes a valid enough argument in favour of them being considered animals, then I might avoid doing so when/if that time comes.

The only faces I've seen on mushrooms are in animation and on TV shows like H.R. Pufnstuf. And Alice in Wonderland.

you are kidding right? Mushrooms animals? Very funny. No? OK tis season of goodwill I will eat mushrooms all year except Christmas

i am a vege but i like mushrooms

i am a veggie and yes i love mushroooms...

Mushrooms have roots and grow in the dirt. They are not animals and do not have faces.
