How many of you are victims of vegan hate crimes?

I was reading a question by another YA member, and he was thrashed by another member. For the record, I eat my steaks rare, I am of perfect health, and I love granola.

Also for the record I have not yet been attacked. I do not subscribe to the practice to Veganism, I don't know if I should be on eggshells. Now days it seems like saying something that may be percieved as offensive about veganism is like saying the N-word.

I have not been a victim of anything I would label a hate-crime.
I have never heard of vegans being tied to the back of some hillbilly's pickup truck and driven down the road until they are completely dead like gays and black people have.
Nor have I heard of vegans doing this to others.

We are victims of ignorance. We are victims of rude and insulting people. But that is what happens when you believe in something. Those who believe in nothing, or those who believe your something makes them look bad, look for as many ways as possible to attack you.

You can see that we deal with this quite often by the ways even vegetarians (and those who think vegetarianism is a good idea) go off on questions such as these. They are certain that in some way, your question is trying to attack them. Those questions happen a lot in this section.

EDIT- I you are referring to foxhunter's question, and if you are not one of his alter-personalities, I suggest you look into his history. If there was such a thing as a Y!Answers-Hate crime, this guy would be the culprit.
That waiter never existed. If a vegan could so greatly not handle the fact that others eat meat, he would not be a waiter.

What the heck is going on with this site? When did vegans become terrorists? For the record, I'm vegetarian but I would never tell anyone not to eat meat and would never refuse to handle meat for someone who does eat it. I even believe that it's acceptable for Asian nations to eat cat and dog (it's the way they treat them before and during slaughter that's difficult to accept) if that's what they choose to do. Freedom of choice, not brainwashing.
Vegan terrorists? Surely not. Really?

Have you been attacked by a vegan?
I am a vegan and have not attacked or been attacked by anyone based on that.

I believe I know the question you are referring to and will denounce as fabrication. No vegan would destroy a lobster cooked for a meal, because the vegan would only see the eating of that lobster as the only possible good to come from the life the lobster gave up.

And what is wrong with looking like a clown. Am I the victim of a hate crime?

I'm a vegan who has never committed a hate
crime. Nor have I done anything to antagonize
or provoke anyone.

Are these incidents hate-crimes? I'll let you decide.

1. One night when I came out of Super Walmart
I found ketchup, mustard and a bun of some
sort smeared across my front window.
The culprits made sure to cover up my
" Go Veg.com" sticker.

2. Some obese hillbillies were riding my bumper,
honking and laughing and just as they passed
me on a one lane highway they threw a balled up
McDonald's wrapper through my window.

3. One day when I was using free weights to do
fly presses at the gym two other males
mumbled " Oh look at granola boy".

I don't make it a habit to whine and moan and
exclaim, "It's so hard to be me" but well......

Dear Navy:

Wouldn't this question be more suitable in the "meat department?"

You come to the veg section and ask a question that is rather unkind to veg people. It's as if you were specifically looking for a fight.

Rather like walking into the tenderloin district and shouting racial slurs.

How is voicing one's opinion a crime? Have you been beaten? Have you been robbed? Has a cross been burned on your lawn?

Disagreeing with you is not a hate crime. It's called Debate. It's an all American favorite.

Let me clarify for you. This is how the American Heritage Dictionary describes Hate Crime:

NOUN:
A crime motivated by prejudice against a social group: "[His]murders were hate crimes targeting victims by gender" (Jane Caputi and Diana E.H. Russell).

Just incase you're confused as to what Crime is, here is its definition:

NOUN:
An act committed or omitted in violation of a law forbidding or commanding it and for which punishment is imposed upon conviction.
Unlawful activity: statistics relating to violent crime.
A serious offense, especially one in violation of morality.
An unjust, senseless, or disgraceful act or condition: It's a crime to squander our country's natural resources.

So, explain to me, please when our First Amendment Right to Free Speech was revoked? What law has anyone broken in disagreeing with you?

You accuse Beebs of attacking you. Her post is polite and completely articulate. Not in any way an attack. Unless her intelligence offends your masculinity.

Ah well. Can't help you there.

If debate unsettles you so much perhaps Yahoo Answers is just not your cup of tea.

"Victims of vegan hate crimes" is maybe a bit overdrawn, don't you think so? The fact is, that vegetarians and vegans have to put up with a lot of stupidity due to a general ignorance and lack of interest. Hearing the same sterotype questions and comments over a long time can be very annoying and frustrating, but what is more annoying are accusations and prejudices based on nothing but the fact, that some people stick to a different life style. But then again, not everyone has the same IQ.

well goody for you. Have your steaks anyway you want. There is an Indian legend that says when you die, you come to a bridge that you must cross before you are allowed into heaven. When you get to the bridge, you meet all of the animals that you have encountered in your life, and they get to decide whether or not to let you cross the bridge. This would include animals you have consumed for selfish satisfaction. I am a vegetarian, and I HATE granola. Why must you be so narrow minded? I can assure you my diet is more varied and creative than most peoples, yet nothing has to suffer or die or bleed for me to nourish my body, I too, am of perfect health now. When I ate meat, I was crippled and sickly. I will leave you alone about what you eat-how about doing the same

for the record, i would present for the record the record of my first words, i said mama, then for the record I like to mention that, while the record is recording, i'm not sure your question is a question, and to answer your question for the record I have not been a victim of vegan hate crimes.

For the record, I eat my steaks rare, I am of perfect health, and I love granola.
What does this have to do with the question?

No,I don't attack others unless I am on the defensive side.Have I been hated on for being vegan?Yes, I have.

I'm vegan and have never insulted anyone for choosing to eat meat.Yes I think it's morally wrong but keep that fact to myself as I am not a lover of arguments.

I have however been insulted and asked loads of idiotic questions by meat-eaters who are convinced I'll shrivel up and die on a vegan diet.

Many vegans take their dietary habits as seriously as a religion, and you know how passionate and intolerant some religious people can be.
But for the record, know of many vegans and religious people who are of healthy minds and do not behave like that.
Too bad it's the nuts who get acknowledgment.

I have been a victim of a race crime,so whats the diffrents? I think its just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.Iwas jumped by a crowed of black people, but keep in mind Im with a black man,so who is to say?

I have been a victim of a vegan hate crimes.

It's a side effect of no iron in the blood....LOL
