Is there a vegan alternative to fish?

I know they have it in Australia and Germany but I couldn't find it in the States so far.

There are not a ton of fake fish meats, but here is a website with a lot of cool recipes for vegetarian fish replacements. For many of these there are vegan versions as well, or you can substitute any dairy or eggs etc..

If you are in cooler cities, fun little shops may have some fake fish meats.
I have seen some vegetarian *fish*, but they usually contained milk or eggs of some sort.

If you mix a can of mashed chickpeas with some kelp, green onions and veganaise, it makes a yummy substitute for tuna salad.

Good luck

Swedish Fish lol

I always find vegan fish and shrimp (looks exactly like shrimp too). I see them in some Asian food stores. The fish doesn't look like fish, but it has a fishy taste to it. Also, in a health food store around here, they used to carry vegan tuna, but I haven't seen it for few years so maybe the company either stopped making it or the store just stopped stocking it, I never really asked.
Anyways, good luck on finding stuff. Try the freezer section of an Asian grocery store the next time you're in one; you might find it.

Walnuts and olive oil are a good start, cause they have good amounts of good fat.

I get the Vegefarm vegetarian version of this "fish." This one is supposed to be vegan. It can be found in some Asian markets.

Tofu?

You can make imitation products at home but for us lazy people there are good recipes online:

The post-punk kitchen has a video where they make vegan sushi of different persuasions:

Or you can read the directions:

Tofu is a great alternative to fish, all you have to do is flavor it in a way you would fish! There are vegetarian/vegan oyster sauces in asian food markets

Here is a recipe for vegan fish sauce (to flavor your fried tofu)

Hope that helps!
