When you cook/steam vegetables, does it get rid of all the nutrients? |
I just made some fresh spinach, i put boiling water on top of it and let it soak for a couple of minutes. Did that get rid of all the nutrients and do i have to drink that water to get the nutrients? vitamin c escapes very easily in the cooking process but as long as you dont over cook the spinach its very nutritious A couple of minutes is fine only if you overdo them It is actually better for your body on a regular basis to have vegetables steamed than always eating them raw. It is more difficult to extract the nutrients from raw vegetables. You still get most of the nutrients. If you're concerned bout this check out some raw vegan sites. Just dont over cook them it should be fine. I luv spinach. Try baby spinach you can eat that raw. yum. It does reduce the nutrients but it doesn't completely remove them. Boiling removes more than steaming. no, it doesnt get rid of ALL of the nutrients. some do get out though. It does get rid of some of the nutrients, the longer you cook/boil or steam for the more it takes out. |
