How can I convince my parents to let me become a vegetarian? |
I want to become a vegetarian and my parents won't let me! They can't force you to eat meat, its your personal choice. If you are a kid, they are probably concerned about you getting enough protein into your diet, which still is a concern even if you know dishes with protein, because they are your parents and like to worry. it took me a long time to convince my parents to let me become a vegetarian i used to refuse to eat any meat i nearly always got sent to my room after (i was 8) i keepted hateing meat for 4 more years and then i gave up meat for lent they did want me to but i did ianyways and i have never stoped it i sa challenge at times casue where ever you go you have to find meat free food i fing it hardest when im away and at a reserant but it is wirth it it sound like you have done your best to tell them why you want to become a vegetarian it is heathy for yiou if you do it properly and when ever i used to eat meat i felt really kinda guilty so just explain to then that it really is important to you and if that doesn't work look up a vid and showit to them but i have to warn you some of them r really grusome so u might not want to just try and show them the way u see things You sound very young and perhaps you can wait until your body is in your early 20's to become a veggie person. If you are still growning and are a teen, you need to eat all of the food groups allowed. IMHO... Do your research. Make sure they know why you are doing it and why it is important to you. I had parents who also did a similar thing. I went vegetarian after I moved out to go to college and am now vegan. I wish I had been able to go veg earlier in my life though. People have been taught a certain way their entire lifes, and sometimes its difficult to let go of that. Be informed, if you have to ask your doctor about it. Just understand that it is difficult for some people to accept things that are so completely contradictory to everything they've ever been taught. Make them a list of the pros to being vegetarian, and the cons of eating meat. Let them know you are truly passionate about it. The only reason I would think it was ok for them to object at this time is if they cannot afford to provide you with a vegetarian diet while making sure you got enough of everything yo uneeded, and if that is the case I understand, otherwise stand strong in your convictions and let them know you have to do what you feel is right. It's your choice, just make sure your eating a balanced diet that is healthy. because steaks are good!!! |
