Are polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat the same as omega 3 and 6? |
I like taking a essential fatty acid supplement for health and I work out. From what I read omega3 is polyunsaturated and omega6 is monounsaturated? I know this is a deep question that probly no one knows but if I just bought a bottle of canola oil with poly and mono wouldnt it be the same thing as spending big $ on a product that claims it has omega3 and omega6? If something contains Polyunsaturated fat, then there will be Omega 6 and 3 present. You should not be taking supplements without knowing what you are doing-----in fact, I cannot think of a reason for anyone to take dietary supplements at all. Just eat a reasonable diet and you will get everything you need without suplements. n鈭? fatty acids (popularly referred to as 蠅鈭? fatty acids or omega-3 fatty acids) are a family of polyunsaturated fatty acids which have in common a carbon鈥揷arbon double bond in the n鈭? position; that is, the third bond from the end of the fatty acid. |
