Why are some people vegetarians and some people vegan?

I know people who are vegitarians, but they still eat eggs, drink milk, etc.

Why do some stop eating animal products altogether and some have diets similar to that described above where they don't consume meat but they still consume other animal products?

Many vegans begin as vegetarians; it's quite heard to stop consuming all kinds of animal products at once. Other people (like me) find vegetarianism more suitable than veganism to their needs and lifestyles.

I am vegan, but choose to be vegetarian when I was in my teens because I got sick every time I ate certain foods, but never fruit and vegetables. Firstly eggs made me very ill,( allergic), chicken also upset my stomach(allergic) all seafood made me swell and break out in hives, and then start to vomit, later had anaphalatic attacks and now carry adrenlin everywhere. As I didnt like the tase of meat it was easy to follow a vegetarian diet. I still ate cheese, drank milk, but had always suffered from bloating and migraine headaches, so the doctors decided to test the insides of my gullet and found out I have an allergic reaction to lactose and protien in dairy!! At first it was difficult adjusting my vegetarian diet to vegan until I found a great dietitan who gave me great advice on substiting dairy to soy, rice, or coconut milks, and making my changes not difficult, just swapping dairy for these other foods I had never thought of using. My headaches stopped in 1mth, and my skin improved almost overnight. So even though I became vegan by necessity, my health has improved100%. Neither of my brothers have these allergies but now their children have some of them. The thought of eating any animal turns my stomach, but I have never pushed my views on anyone, and my family loves my wide, rich choices of foods adapted from all nations, but some people still think I am fanatical when I say I am Vegan! I dont bother to explain why I am , every person should choose for themself how they want to live and eat, not be led by others.

Several reasons.
Political
Religious
Animal Rights
Health and probably a lot more.

Some don't eat animal products for health reasons. For example, butter is bad for your heart, milk has antibiotic and hormone residue from the shots they give cows.

Some don't eat animal products because it encourages cruel and unhealthy treatment of animals. Economics, supply and demand. If someone is willing to pay money, someone else will supply it.

I think it depends on believe. For those take vegetarian seriously not even using those spoon and fork that's been used by others. They can't eat onion and garlic as well. It really depends.
PEACE~

some reasons might be because different people have different beliefs. im a vegetarian, && im only 16, but it makes it easier for my mom to pick things out to cook.
i wouldnt mind being a vegan, though. it just harder to find your protein when your a vegan.

The ones who don't eat animal products altogether have taken an extra step, ethically. Vegans object to, not only the killing of animals, but also the inhumane conditions animals are kept in too produce milk, eggs, and the like. The inhumane conditions being small, crowded pens, etc.

Vegans eat only foods of plant origin, no foods of animal origin; that means, no eggs, dairy products, or honey. Soyfoods, legumes, nuts and seitan form the protein building blocks, and are rounded out by grains, fruits, and vegetables

Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat as above with the addition of dairy products and/or eggs .

pesce-vegetarians eat fish as well as veggies, dairy, and eggs.

And why some non-vegetarian?

Being a vegetarian is a step in the right direction, being vegan is jumping in with both feet! It's not always easy to give up all animal products, there are hidden ingredients all over the place, and going out to eat can sometimes be impossible. It all depends on how much dedication and perseverance a person has.

health or ethical reasons

Because they are *******.

For every animal you don't eat, I'll eat 3.

It's the thinking of the person. or religion. An egg is a baby chicken undeveloped so thats not all vegetarian.
