Why do they give livestock steroids?

Why do they do that if it is very unhealthy for humans? They should not do that. How come it isn't illegal?

They also give livestock steriods in order to make more money. They figure that if they can get the animals to grow faster, the faster they can send them to slaughter nd make more dough. It's terrible. When my parents were growing up (in the 50s and 60s), it took almost a year to raise a chicken and send it off to slaughter. Now, because of steriods, it only take about four weeks for them to be the appropriate size for slaughter. That sounds really unnatural, if you ask me!

It should be illegal.

no they will

lipa

they give them steroids, antibiotics and growth hormones, to make up for the unsanitary living conditions and diseases they get from living in confinement with feces, urine, and vomit. Here is a link with more information

good questions, i never think about that before, hum
i guess they give em steroids to not get sick, and if human eats the cow with the steroids it makes the human not get sick, so it's like getting extra free steroids for free, if you work out after taking steroids your muscle will grow before your eyes!!

There are a lot of things that are legal that are wrong unfortunately. I guess they are making money. It is terrible. I guess you could try buying organic if you do eat meat, or you could become vegetarian- I have been for 10 years and loving it.

I agree, there is plenty that is legal that is wrong. I think it's interesting and unfair, that if somebody beats his dog, he gets arrested and makes the news. Yet, millions of cows, chickens, turkeys, pigs and other animals people eat are abused and murdered every day and that doesn't make mainstream news.

Go figure.

TO increase muscle mass. I don't like it, but there is a lack of proof of harmful effect to man.

to give vegetarians and others alike another reason NOT to eat meat...
