Where do I get a vegetarian menu?

I have recently decided to stop eating meat and would like to find a good site that has recipes and a daily/weekly menu.

I wanted an idea of what meal plans that are popular. And I am not a big fan of PETA. I don't like the way they think of domestic animals. I had a bad experience with them.

Agreed re. PETA. My cat thinks they're dreadful people.

Anyway, if you can get by sometimes without planned menus, just go to recipe sites that have an option to search for only the vegetarian dishes -- epicurious.com is my favourite.

And -- regular menus can be adapted. Even something like beef wellington -- there are recipes out there for mushroom wellington.

That avoids the problems of the vegetarian sites, viz: too many recipes for self-consciously vegetarian food, which keeps being warm lentil mush, gross bean bake, yet another tofu dish, etc. I suspect anybody converting would be driven mad fairly quickly by some of the awful food some of these sites recommend. PETA is, as usual, notably bad -- their recipes do _not_ do vegetarians (actually, they're into veganism, but for some reason unable to come clean about it in their propaganda) any favours.

That said, I think I've seen monthly (?) menus in 'Vegetarian Times.' Quite some years ago, and not on-line, but. Really, I just don't think there's much along the lines of what you're looking for that's worth bothering with. If you're doing this because you _like_ tofu and warm lentil mush, I apologise...

This week's worth of menus

is a bit too into self-denial for me -- where's the cheese? -- but.

There are tons of great resources out there. As you are a newbie, I recommend that you spend time at vrg.org (vegetarian resource group) because there you'll find good, necessary technical diet information contributed by dieticians apparently well versed in the science of plant based diet.

I've been a vegetarian for sixteen years (so far so good).....I've found http://grazingrecipes.blogspot.com to be a great site with tonnes of yummy recipes.......if you are interested in incorporating tofu into your diet, check out http://recipeswithtofu.blogspot.com

Good Luck

Don't forget to eat foods with B12 in them.....

You can look it up on Google.

vegetariancentral.com

That's the one I used for just random links and such. If you want something like a meal plan thing... I know that random fitness website have vegetarian weekly menus with shopping lists. Try the National Body Challenge on Discovery Channel website for some ideas.

EDIT: Hm, well, I don't think there's like one popular meal plan that vegetarians follow. It's more like just eating things that are healthy, balanced. Here's some things I found after a yahoo search.

vegweb.com/cgi/mealplanner.cgi (this requires registration)

and someone's family website that has meals just laid out there, some with recipes:
