Question about making homemade yogurt with those electric yogurt makers? |
I thought it would be as simple as pouring in the milk right from the container and adding the bacteria and flavors and such. But I just read something that seems to indicate that you have to cook your milk first. Is this true? Is there an electric yogurt maker out there where you DON'T have to do this? Cooking the milk really makes the process more inconvenient. You need to bring the milk to a high enough temperature to get the cultures active. Otherwise they will not multiply. ive never even heard of a yogurt maker! but what i do is boil the milk, let it cool and add a little bit or regular yogurt in it and when its lukewarm i put it in tupperware and stick it in my oven overnight and the next morning voila, YOGURT! |
