What are some vegetarian dishes children might like to eat?

My children told me they don't want to eat animals anymore, what recipes to you feed your vegetarian children?

There are many recipes that you can try, it really depends on what your children like. There is a book called Better than Peanut butter and Jelly, which has many kid friendly foods.

Veggies and dip are an easy snack - with hummus, you get some protein, as well.

Chunks of firm tofu dredged in milk and Shake and Bake, baked, then served with BBQ sauce.

Nachos & cheese with vegetarian chili (canned or from dry) and guacamole.

Sandwiches made with veggie 'slices', grilled cheese, or peanut butter & jelly or banana.

French fries and veggie burgers.

Pasta and sauce - including mac & cheese, tomato sauce & spaghetti, pasta with alfredo sauce.

Cheese and refried bean burritos or quesadillas.

Pizza - if you need it quick, just make them on English muffins.

If your kids are more adventurous, make curried chickpeas or tofu, or make falafels from the powder you get at the grocery store.

When I was little, my parents fed me plain beans sauteed in butter, or canned chickpeas with a little Italian dressing on them.

But some yummy things your kids might like:
Vegetarian Lasagne
Vegetarian Chili
Nachos/Tacos
Poutine (Fries w/ vegetarian gravy and cheese)
Vegetable stew with dough boys
These are things I eat, and I pretty much have the taste buds of a five year old. lol

heres a good website

macaroni and cheese, some potato salad... peanut butter and jelly on toast..

baked beans on biscuits...

PB & J sandwiches, pasta, potatoes, veggies, beans....

Still tons of options, just make sure they're getting a protein source through things like nuts, beans or tofu. Replace the meat on old recipes with meat substitues. Try a cup of TVP(textured veggie protein) in chili or with tomoato sauce for spaghetti. Make lots of stirfrys, you can throw tons of different food combinations together for stirfrys.

Hope this helps!

veggie burgers, rice, rice and beans, eggs, pasta, soups

Try some wholesome carrots.

Well, i'm very proud you childrens dont want to at animals anymore!

If you are clueless, try this cookbook, it's great:
The American Vegetarian Cookbook From the Fit For Life Kitchen. I use it so often over the years that I have it indexed.

I cannot remember the last time my kids didn't want to eat something we made. Although, we have visited other peoples home and although it was vegetarian, it was not cooked very well and obviously was so flavourless that it must not have been organic... we are used to organic. So, what I'm getting at is, if they don't, say, like carrots, perhaps they don't like the way it was prepared or grown etc. I know I used to dislike some fruits and veggies but later found that I could eat them totally plain and raw fresh from the garden... fresh and organic makes a big difference in flavour.

There's a lot of meatless recipes. I'll give you some great suggestions though that I think sound good. My daughter's only 11 months old so I haven't really pulled out any kid recipes yet, she mostly eats mashed and pureed food right now.

I'll give you vegetarian as well as vegan recipes here.

You can try any of the following kid-friendly foods:

- cheese ravioli (non-vegan)http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/family/f...

- Mashed Potato "volcanoes with lava" (can be vegan)

(scroll around on that page for some other kid-friendly vegetarian recipes as well)

- Jambalaya (vegan)

(look around this site, there are some great recipes here, I use this site frequently)

- Raspberry and Peanut Butter Sandwiches (vegan)

Of course, if the kids like cheese and eggs you have a lot of options there. There are plenty of sandwich options, all sorts of pizzas, and pasta is ALWAYS okay with kids - you can try alfredo or tomato sauces, you can try macaroni and cheese, you can try pesto sauce.

Rice Rissoles
I make these in a variety of ways.often i make a peanut mince and place mashed potatos on top browned under the grill and the left over i use a cup or two of cooked rice add an egg to bined some extras like grated cheese parsley curry powder tomato or another sauce then take large spoonfuls and roll into a ball flatten a little then shallow fry in oil . if sticky on your hands use wet hands to roll . peanut mince i know longer use a recipe but you saute a chopped onion a grated carrot a few mushrooms chopped and a chopped celery stick.then add a cup of chopped nuts then about half a cup of water and half cup of milk. cook a few minutes thicken with porridge oats add a chopped capsicum then flavour with a little curry parsley or what you fancy season with salt and pepper. marmite about at easpoonful added is an extra health kick. you may want to double this recipe
