Are there any noticeable differences between the poo of a vegetarian and a meat-eater?

A friend and I were having a discussion about the differences between cow poo and dog poo. We both agreed that cow poo doesn't smell quite as offensive as dog poo, and that perhaps this was because cows eat vegetable products whereas dogs eat meat.

Would this be true? And what about in humans - would the poo of a vegetarian human smell less obnoxious or look any different to than that of an omnivore?

If you don't get many responses, it's because this is strikingly similar to what the Ashley Army would ask.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure vegetarians have less offensive poo (unless they ate onions, garlic or cabbage). With the exception of the aforementioned veggies, plants are generally low in sulfur-containing compounds. Meat and eggs are high in sulfur containing amino acids that release hydrogen sulfide in the intestine.

Vegetarians, and especially vegans, may have a larger volume of fart (as do cows) but it doesn't smell as bad because most of it is carbon dioxide and methane, neither of which smell. The smell is from sulfur compounds.

i dont know what cows you've been hanging out with, but the cows i know, their poo is pretty rank.
but you right, having been a vegetarian, vegan, and voracious meat eater on different occasions, not only is your **** more offensive with more animal protein, but as well your sweat and breath.
but your poo smells worse with drinking and druggin as well.

still no matter, your poo aint never gonna smell like roses.

My brother has been a plumber for about 10 years and says there is alot of differences in poo. I joke with him and say, Im sure you can make a whole nuther meal with what you see. But seriously folks.

I am a vegetarian, and a nanny, and I can tell you that baby poo if they've eaten meat smells MUCH worse than if they haven't. The baby that I take care of ate meat one time, and I changed his diaper the next day and it was completely putrid! I needed a gas mask. Also, before my husband became vegetarian, he had the most rank gas, but hasn't for the last 3 1/2 years since he became veg.

Yes. One of them isn't mine.

There is one person in this forum who is an expert in this area. With any luck, she will give you an answer.

Well, I can say yes.

There's a difference between rotting and fermenting.
Rotting happens with meat in a human = sickness.
Fermenting happens with (raw) plant matter in humans = health.

That doesn't explain pig poo at all. They eat a mostly corn diet and thats some nasty s***. Although I was told if you feed them barley, the smell's not so bad. And bird poo is the most rank of all the poos in the world. I don't think they eat meat.

I'd prefer not to look closely enough to tell.

for me eating vegetables was so differnt from the one who eat meat! its becuz vegetables will add nourishments and vitamins to ur body that will makes u more healthy than to eat meat, meat can gives a lot of sick and illnesses....and it cd mke u spend a lot of money....wer now in crisis, so be wise!
