How can I take my daughter to the bathroom in public? |
My daughter is 4 1/2, and I have full custody of her. She has a small bladder and usually when we are at a restaurant, supermarket, anywhere in public she has to go to the bathroom. I don't think she's old enough to go into the women's by herself, and I don't want to take her into the men's because of men using the urinals. What's a dad to do? buy a pink bandana, and make a game of it. LOL! Seriously, I know a single dad who does just that. pink bandana goes over daughters eyes until she gets in the stall with daddy and then presto it's magic, we're at the potty... :) You could ask a lady to accompany her to the rest room. Thats happened to me a few times before. And, I have never had a problem doing it. Of course I wouldnt' feel comfortable walking into the stall with the little girl. But, I'd stand outside and wait for her to finish up and help her wash her hands. I doubt any women would have a problem helping you out. I love Jessica S's response. That's a great idea! Most women will allow a man in the bathroom with his daughter. They are a lot more understanding about that stuff. As far as the men's room goes, just take her into the stall and let her do her thing. Stalls were created for privacy and your daughter isn't going to be looking at the urinals in the first place.... Well...when i waz little my dad asked a waitress or female worker to take me in whwn we were out! They usallywould be ok with and yup! My daughter is 4 and my husband does take her to the men's room if in fact there are no family restrooms around (yes they do have those) . It is not a problem - my daughter does not comment and you just direct her, standing in line of view, to the nearest (cleaner) stall. I was a single MOTHER of a toddler SON---same problem---However, if the child uses the bathroom at home by herself, she is fully capable of using a public restroom by herself as well as long as you have instructed her on the precautions....what I USED to do was stand outside the bathroom door and every so often I would give a shout into the bathroom to make sure my son was OK.....you can't always find a female around to GO into the bathroom with your daughter and the sooner you get used to the fact that she is starting to grow up, the easier it will be for her----can't wait till she needs her first bra.... hahahahaha don't worry, you will KNOW when that time comes... and when it does, take her to a FINE ladies store (not a Walmart, but one that has sales ladies and fitting rooms and specializes in female under apparell... they will specially fit her with her first one..... hey, I had to discuss CONDOMS with mine so bra shopping should be a piece of cake for you. You take her in the bath room it doesn't matter where your at. If your at a store stop shopping and ask for a bathroom. She is too young to go by her self. I take my son in the ladys room. Besides that there is too much stuff that kids can touch when they go by there self. Needles. Dirt stuff. Keep a eye on her. |

My son is starting to do that now - and he's 2. When your daughter is asking to go to the potty, then it's time. This is the beginning to get her sitting on the pot and getting used to ... I have a 2 year old also that I've just weaned off the pacifier. It took all but a week! We were at the store, and she insisted that she takes the pacifier in the store; she got distracted by... My stepdaughter would cry because she would get so frustrated that we couldn't understand what it was she was trying to say. It was very, VERY hard to do, but we had to ignore her if she cried... Try to expose her tushie to air as much as possible. If you can let your child go around without a diaper on, then do it. Otherwise, attach it very loosely at the waist to get some air circulating ... may be try to stay with the babysitter and your baby together for several times, gradually decreasing the time to be involved. Let her know the babysitter more before just left her to the babysitte... I kept the bed rail on for a pretty long time. Is there a reason you want to remove it? Does it bother her? Do you need it for some other child? If there's no reason to remove it, I'd lea... The average cost doesn't help you here. You need to actually go out to day care centers you would want your child going to and find out how much it costs. ...My son is 2 1/2. He is really into playing with trains. They don't have to be the expensive battery opperated kind - he just loves plain old little tikes - like the little people plastic typ... |
