What is the appropriate age to start bringing your toddler to the movies? |
My husband and I want to see a new kid's movie coming out, is it too soon for our 13 month old? it depends upon the kid not the age, if well behaved & wont make noise to disturb others then go for it otherwise rent a video When he can sit quietly through a one-and-a-half to two hour movie, and not bother the other people in the theater. I have a 3 yr old and hubby tried to take him to the movies and they had to leave cause he was all over the place. I thinks it's best when there about 4-5 to start taking them. You can try and see how your little does but i would go when it's not all busy like on a weekday during the day. Yes its too soon...You should wait until they are about 3 or 4 before even attempting it.. I have three..trust me. We took our 3 year old to see the Barney movie and it worked for him. 13 months is way too young to go to the movies without disrupting everyone else. I think it really depends on the child. Most 13 month old children cannot sit through a long movie....but there are some that might. Buy a big tub of popcorn, let the child bring a blanket or stuffed animal and give it a try, but be prepared to leave if it doesn't work out. No way. If it's a kids movie then take him/her! If they get a little noisy too bad, tell the complainers to get a life........... it's a kids movie. Let the kids have fun! Yes, 13 months is to soon.Children that young will not sit through any movie. if he will sit through a movie at home, he probably will sit through a movie at the theatre with some snacks to munch on. unless of course he is afraid of dark places. My daughter was about a year old when I took her to the movies for the first time. Maybe, if only because the movie's so large and loud in a theater. If it were on DVD and could be played at home a 13-month old would probably be fine. Just go to the cheapest show you can (usually the matinee) and see if your son will tolerate it. I wouldn't try it with mine though, and they are 2 and a half. as long as you take the baby out if they start crying. also they need to be able to keep quiet. i hate going to movies that are for all ages (pg, not TOO little kiddish, etc) where there are a bunch of kids saying "what's that," "what does that say"(b/c they can't read), "what's he doing," blah, blah, blah, etc. however, if it is a little kids' movie, it'd be fine, because not many older people, besides parents of little kids, would want to see it. i think it's mostly annoying when there are little kids talking through a movie and their parents not tell them even once to be quiet. so, it really depends on the movie whether or not it's ok to take your kid. i'm sure whatever movie you're planning on going to would be fine to take your kid to though. I took my 2 year old to Happy Feet but it was a Tuesday at noon and no one was there. She wanted to leave half way thru and she wouldn't sit at all, so it was a good thing no one was there! If you have an agree-able toddler it might be OK Hi. It's not too young. These movies are for children and adults alike. It your little one enjoys watching movies and he sits for them at home. He or she would enjoy the movie on a big screen with his parents. They will always be a little ancy in the sitting part, but just bring some snacks. If it doesn't work, don't worry, it's all new to them. Just try again a couple months later. Have a good time. It's about family, anyway!! most theatres charge for that age so I think in some childrens cases it's not too young. Sit further away from speakers though as some theatres are to loud. And if your child will sit through a movie without being disruptive to the other guests then I think Movies are a great way to spend some time with your child as a family. They may be a bit overwhelmed though their first time so be prepared to leave if necesary. And you probably wont get your money returned. wait until they are about 3 my daughter is 3 and we starting taking her to the movies, when she turned 3. I think so................be prepared though to take the child out if it starts disturbing everyone. They say a childs attention span is 1 minute for every year which means 1 minute a 3 seconds..........lol ..........I think the BIG screen and colors and actions will probably keep him/her occupied for a little longer than that. Good Luck! |
